This is true video ... bcoz on 13 dec 2009 I saw same thing on cornice and it was swiming in the water ... i tried to capture it but it was just few swims and then vanished ... since I saw it from back side i thought it mite be some duck, i did not think of penguin but now after watching this movie i recall the scene i saw and the thing i saw was bulky like penguin. I can certify this is true.

Hello,

If I was an authorized personnel in the tourism authority, I would name that penguin, keep it in a safe place in Qatar for visitors, create attractive toys, use it for tourism campaigns for Qatar.

Nice video!

Mohammed

I cant believe that some people knows how to use Qatarliving well and think of themselves as Einstein of this era... but so stupid to search the web 1st before hitting the keys...

Penguins are spread throughout the southern hemisphere from the Antarctic to the Galapagos islands on the equator. Penguins in southern Australia regularly experience temperatures in excess of 35°C and often in excess of 40°. Other species of penguin experience hot weather in South Africa and South America.

Only two species, the Emperor and the Adelie breed only on or close to the Antarctic mainland. The other sixteen or so species breed in sub-Antarctic, temperate, sub-tropical and tropical areas.

So yes, it is possible... penguins are like human, and qatar expats.. some of us came from freezing temps. and are now enjoying Qatar's sunny weather....

Its highly unlikely that this penguin swam through the strait of hormuz and landed itself into the gulf from the arabian sea. so, it may be that someone has released it in to the waters either from any of the gulf countries or iran.

Intriguing penguin video. To stop the doubt of Qlers about the video of penguin on Corniche. You must make a sworn statements that its real. Report this to the the ministry of environment for the penguin to be properly care of and you who knows you might receive a reward.

just one last question:

Is the penguin in the video a real one?

Now, make a promise goes like this way,

In the name of Allah, I saw a penguin in Corniche swimming in seawater able to survive in harsh environment. And more details. Dated xx/xx/xxxx

umm...ok. assuming the video's not a fake, someone should have reported it immediately to the ministry of environment or whatever government agency's in charge of taking care of lost and found wildlife.

the penguin is obviously not in its natural environment and may be sick or injured, which is sometimes the case for animals who suddenly turn up in places where they're least expected.

A Penguin walks into Chocoholic's cake and coffee shop and orders an iced donut and a coffee latte.

Chocoholic thinks "that's a bit strange", but serves him anyway.

the Penguin finishes the donut and asks for another.

Cocoholic serves him without a word.

The Penguin says to chocoholic, "has my brother been in today?"

Chocoholic says "don't know; What does he look like?"

marine life in the arabian gulf is surviving in extreme conditions...heavy evaporation and less of mixing with the ocean and added to that the hot brine and chemicals from all desalination plants in its shores. the salinity of this water body is much higher than what we find in the polar regions.

its highly unlikely that this poor creature will survive the temperature and salinity. someone needs to save the bird if possible.

btw, strawberry shisha said its 'outrageous' ...how come??

Only way to do it properly is cut 2 clips together. I checked in slow-mo and can't see a cut. The easy way to find out is check the sea where the vid is shot. If it looks different there, then it's a fake... but you can't just cut and paste a penguin into the water!
