KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian police have detained a landlord after his female tenants discovered hidden cameras installed in three bathrooms of their rented home, news reports said yesterday.
The suspect, who had rented out his four-bedroom home to 19 female students, was believed to have fitted spy cameras near the ceiling light of each bathroom in the house.
One of the students, in her early 20s, had noticed something strange in the light socket of the bathroom on Saturday, the Star daily reported.
Upon closer inspection, the girl and her housemates discovered that a camera had been fitted. Checks on another two bathrooms revealed similar gadgets.
After lodging a police report, the tenants asked the suspect to go over to the home, where authorities detained the 34-year old man.
The suspect, who works as an interior designer, was detained at midnight on Saturday and will be held under remand till Friday, said police.-DPA
