Parents try to smuggle baby in hand luggage

What the heck is on their mind! This is really insane, to think that both parents agreed into this sick idea. If they cannot afford to pay for their kid's passport, visa or airfare, they should have just stayed at home or at least shouldn't have a baby at all.

=========================

Sharjah: Customs officials at Sharjah International Airport have arrested an Egyptian man and his wife after they attempted to smuggle their infant son into the UAE in their luggage.

The attempt was discovered on Saturday morning after the man, in his 30s, and his wife arrived at the airport from Egypt.

An investigation was launched after an X-ray machine showed the child was hidden in the hand baggage.

The baby boy, who is just a year old, had no visa, passport or official documents allowing him to enter the UAE.

A police official told Gulf News: “When customs officials saw the baby inside the bag at the X-ray scanner, they were stunned.

"This machine is very dangerous for anyone, let alone a baby in a bag to pass through."

"A case will now be raised against the mother and father, they both have visas to come to the UAE, but they have put the life of their child at risk.”

They arrived on a Friday . the child had a passport and travelled on the plane with them - but no visa.

They were advised by immigration to wait until Sunday when the immigration office at the airport opens.

But the impatient parents waited for the shift to change on Saturday morning at 10, and the father allegedly convinced the mother to join a queue at the immigration counter and place the child in the luggage :o(

you mean the couple traveled from Egypt with their baby holding in their hands and after arriving at the Sharjah airport, they faced some official problems to get out with the child, so they decided to keep the baby in the bag for going outside the airport...

pity on their shortcut.

Idiotic Parents!!

Poor Kid!!

But why doesnt the immigration office funtion in the airport atleast during Fridays and saturdays? atleast for few hours on weekends?

Just cos its weekend, does it mean no one (esp those who can avail on-arrival visa) is allowed to travel into UAE???

GreatQatar- the boy is a year old so there is no way that he will be an airport baby.

And i agree on that fubar- how come none in the airport in Egypt ever noticed that. This only shows how lenient they're airport security is!

I can't imagine that poor kid being in that bag the whole time... must be suffocating i guess.

Those two are just plain sick!

Yes, they are idiots, but this post also shows that you stories can be sensationalised or key aspects left out by journalists..

SWhat this one fails to mention is that :

They arrived on a Friday . the child had a passport, but no visa.

They were advised by immigration to wait until Sunday when the immigration office at the airport opens.

But the impatient parents waited for the shift to change on Saturday morning at 10, and the father allegedly convinced the mother to join a queue at the immigration counter and place the child in the luggage :o(

Ahhh....

does this mean that they got the baby OUT of Egypt without anyone noticing at passport control or baggage scanning?

Who knows what is being smuggled on to planes from Egypt then.
