I found John Paul II very charismatic and outgoing. whereas Pope Benedict XVI is quiet and less engaging..
Do you think that in today's cynical world, we still need a figurehead like the pope ?

The church is past it's sell-by date and so is the pope or rather I should say Religion is past it's sell-by date. Not required and not relevant in today's world.
Papa is the head of the Roman Catholic Church. We need him.
