Overseas wedding advice!!!!
Hi,
Is there anyone here who's been married overseas? I'm planning on getting married next year but we've encountered some problems. First we looked at Bali, but the legal requirements there are that you must be the same religion, as he's a Catholic & I'm a Protestant apparently in Bali that doesn't count as the same thing and there's not enough time (or desire) for one of us to convert. Greece requires you to spend 7 days there before the wedding and have everything translated into Greek and submitted 3 months before the wedding! Maldives only does blessings. Qatar doesn't marry Christians except at the British embassy and neither of us are British!
Seriously any suggestions for an easy hassle free nearby place to get married (and NOT Dubai, I hate Dubai)
I'm professional photographer from bali, since 2009 must moved to lombok island. so.. if you need photographer for wedding, pre wedding, honeymoon in bali or lombok. you can contact me at info/-a-t-/lombokwedding.com or visit my website www.lombokwedding.com
Cyprus is usually the destination of choice for hassle-free weddings in this part of the world.

Hello Olive,
Since you're a Canadian, I think it is worth to check the following Canadian policy about getting married overseas in order to avoid future complication if you want to sponsor your partner for Canadian immigration. Just my 2 cents!!

Like Smoke says, contact Fr Bill Shwartz at the number given - simple - 3 meets with guy, big or small service as you require, documentation taken care off and all for I believe QR2500 - Bill is genuinely a nice guy too - loads of Gulf experience and he will quickly help you with what it is you are looking for - well, in marriage terms anyway - the rest of life is upto you!!.

I believe that in embassies they marry u ..
U can go to your or his embassy .. it's called civil wedding ..
and after u do the marriage contract .. u can held ur wedding party any where here in Qatar such as hotels or wutever ..
for an advice .. do not try philipines ..
i married my wife in philipines and the papers are very complicated .. and some one should be there to process the documents for u .. so that u can get married upon ur arrival or the following next day
India would be a better suggestion. Legal procedures wont take much time and pain, and it has many exotic places to choose from to make your marriage even more beautiful

Yep go to India. Anyone can get married to anybody they choose, anywhere and anytime..

Possible in Lebanon
Have you checked the Catholic or Anglican church here in Doha? You can get married there and the hassles aren't much if either of you is baptised. You can call them to ask for the requirements for a wedding.
Good luck!
Go to India :). U can marry anyone everyone anywhere. All the best.

When I was on holiday in Goa, I saw a few weddings in the resort we were staying. I spoke to a British girl that was getting married there and I'm pretty sure she got married the day after she got there. Best of luck!

Hi Olive, my husband and I got married in Kuwait at the ministry which literally took 30 minutes. Have you tried any non denominational churches like Doha Fellowship etc. They might be able to help you. All the BEST..
Thanks Vinmurthi your input was invaluable.
