Directed by Siddiq Barmak

(in Farsi language with English translations)

A mother was left jobless after the hospital was closed by the Taliban. The mother has left no choice but to disguise her daughter as a boy in order for the child to get a job in a male-dominating laws of society.

Said to be the only film made during the Taliban regime (where creation of films were banned), the movie depicts a somewhat harsh reality of a land ruled by 'extremists' and how their laws have lead to unequal rights to women in Afghanistan whilst giving us a perspective of a new generation of males 'trained' at an early age as viewed and experienced in the eyes of a girl.

Why not. No one would know who. Now, in the cover picture, how do I distinguish which one is my mother, the left, right, centre, tall one or short one?
