ooredoo and the Reds ?

At first I thought Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrggggh!

Then I thought. it makes sense. ooredoo and the Reds..

______

As per news , Qatari telecom firm Ooredoo have been linked with a multi-million pound sponsorship deal with Liverpool, which could see the stadium renamed.

Standard Chartered, Liverpool's current shirt sponsors, have 18 months remaining on the £20million per year deal they agreed in September 2009 and are currently in talks with the Anfield club about extending those terms.

Liverpool had granted Standard Chartered a period of exclusivity to broker new improved terms.

But Ooredoo, who recently appointed Lionel Messi to become an ambassador for their brand, have claimed they have received a tender from Liverpool and they are eager to become associated with the Barclays Premier League.

A spokesman for Ooredoo said on Al Jeezera's website: 'The goal was to sponsor a big English club with a huge history. Our search included Arsenal & Manchester United but the former two have long sponsorship deals and the same applies to Manchester City so Liverpool is the only club available right now.

'We want to sponsor the club in full. We want to sponsor the stadium (possibly rename it) as well as the club's kits. Our goal is to reach the Asian markets where the Premier League has an enormous fan base.

'We received the tender from the club a few days ago and we are currently in the process of due diligence and we are studying each aspect of the study. It is a dual interest, Liverpool needs the money to compete with the European heavyweights and we want to expand our brand to reach new markets via football.'

Against modern football!

Ah yes the whole you cannot spend beyond your means!

This will still affect Man City and its probably the reason they didn't spend so much this season. Although I hope the financial rule clamps down on their through the loophole stadium naming!

All this money coming from other countries is what is slowly killing football.

The more money they generate, the more they can spend..

Manchester City are using huge sponsorships from "Emirati" entities to get round this loophole :O(

Perhaps Liverpool will be able to do the same..

GodFather.

Ben Liverpool was 3rd highest spender this season behind Chelsea and Man City. Its not that they cant afford to spend much, its getting the right players.

I thought the financial fair play rules will stop teams spending so much money and 'buying' the league? Therefore surely this would be a help to teams like Liverpool who currently cannot afford to spend as much?

Liverpool is a big club and will pull through with or with out Ooredoo..:)

You never walk alone!

From next year Fifa Financial Fair Play regulations will come inro effect. For Liverpool to compete with the big guys , they need the money.

Liverpool wont do any better with a sponsorship. It wont give them millions more than they have now. Of course if someone was to buy them it would be a different story.

As for Barcelona, they were already one of the best teams around before Qatar's sponsorship. In fact, they haven't actually been that good the last two years (on the European front anyway) so you could argue that they've done worse since the QF sponsorship!

PSG is on the brink of first French League (Ligue1) title after being purchased by Qatar.

Barcelona is doing v well fter sign up with QF and now QA.

Harrods is doing great and so is London economy after QIA investments.

Porche profits jumped after QIA boght some percentage of its shares.

seems it is not a bad idea to sponsor the looser to make them winner :)
