Is this offer to good to be true?

Works out to be: Includes everything
61205Qr per month (before for taxes)

Is qatar really that expensive? I keep checking and rechecking but thats the number I come up with.

With that much money you can get your family on a nice compound and your wife can meets lots of other women. Plenty of playgroups and coffee mornings to be had if that is what she wants.

You seem to have a pretty good sense of humor or at least thick-skin and that will go miles here. Patience is key.

Good luck with the move!

Yes that sounds about right as far as the salary. Now don't get me wrong there have been a few uneasy moments out here. I know it's not because of my skin color, but the fact that I'm American. I might ruffle a few feathers by saying that but it is true. I have lived all over this world while is was in the Marines and for the most part it really hasn't been about color just mostly nationality. I don't know if you have school age children, if so there are some really good schools for them out here. If your wife plans on working you should look into getting a nanny. They come in handy especially if you and your wife want to go out for a quite evening alone to recharge your batteries. If you have any questions just drop me a line. i will be glad to help make your transition easy as possible.

Good to hear you have had good experiences, thats what I was looking for. I have been places not so nice.

The converter I am using has 61,000QR being 16k or 17k US dollars. Is that wrong?

And for canarybird, why would I want to give you some of my cream. Get in line.

LOL

I think u added a wrong zero in there. Nobody and I repeat nobody from the US makes over 2 million US dollars a year out here. Tax is another thing. The only tax I pay is Social Security and Medicare. No federal is taken out at all. I make close to 17k USD a month so if your making over 160k USD a month please drop me a line because apparently I'm not as good as I thought I was. I also agree with canarybird. If you have to question the color of your skin going to a certain place then maybe you need to ask yourself some questions. I to am from the US and I am a black man and It has been nothing but love out here. Also if you read or know anything about history alot of Arabic countries citizens ancestors derive from Africa, so there are quite a few "dark skinned" Arabs.

Seems you have good Korean experience. Unfortunately they are rare here. We have a lot of Chinese ;)

If you go and live abroad you will be confronted with many different things, even if you are white, which I am to but I love the diffeernt skin colours I am confronted with, and I love the nationalities I am confronted with, and I love the challenges I am confronted with because of the different mentalities, this si my main reason for living abroad.

Your question poses one main thing for me, are you ready for a life in the Gulf?

Your intelligence poses an even greater question for me - because if you have to ask a question about skin colour it proves to me you have no international experience and that poses an even greater question in my mind - why will they pay you such a salary when you don't even posses diplomacy??

I asked about the skin color becuase in some places it does matter. Just trying to find out what I am getting myself into. There are still parts of the US (mostly southern states) where people will stare as if my family and I where from Mars. I don't mind when people stare but just say hi when you do.

Oh I got to tell this story, I spent some time in Korea and a lady asked if she could touch me, I said ok. She tried to see if my color would rube off! that was funy, she didn't know any better, I guess I was her fitst. LOL

Are you of dark coloured decent?? This is such a stupid question is doesn't even deserve to be answered and the money you have been offered too much for you.

If you think skin colour is an issue and as I am sure you will not be able to earn that much money in Ami Land welcome to Qatar but make sure you bring enough cream with you to whiten all our skins!!!!!!!!LOL

We have all colors here. Welcome to Qatar.

If you will be working for an American company then you have to pay income tax.

Ah... 612,050(Qr) per month would be 168k US per month! I am good but not that good.

Are you having fun with me!

LOL

This is a good salary. Keep in mind that there is no personal income tax deductions.

Your offer compares to the high end of a senior manager in one of the large oil and gas companies or banks.

Companies now are increasing salaries to catch up with inflation. Unfortunately this will induce more inflation as prices will go up again. You'll be ok for the next 3-5 years. it boils down to how much you'll be paying for rent and schooling though.

hope this helps.

Thanks.

I think you forgot one zero up there. Qrs. 612,050/- per month sounds more realistic to me.
