This Obama as president gave me the shivers
By heero_yuy2 •
Yesterday morning we had an electricity blackout in the office...but they left the lights in the lobby on! This is unfair! Discrimination!
I knew it! It's the end of the world! You can't say the N-word anymore! No more religion bashing coz of his origin! You should've never voted the guy! You should have elected Sarah Palin for prez! We might've live happily ever after if Palin sits in the Oval.
I guess sideline punditry is a full-contact sport but really if the economy didn't collapse like it historically does in the month of October about once every dozen years (during election season; 1979, 1991,2008 - 1990s "end of Cold War 'peace dividend'") McCain would've stood a better chance at gettin' the job. It was stolen from him in 2000 by W. 'cause the 'powers that be' don't like a maverick, which McCain is by nature. That's what killed him this time around as well. Let's face it, Obama spent like a sailor on shore leave and bought the seat but now must payback for the rest of the time that he is there, he bought his way in by spending special interest money and his Chief of Staff (first pick) is a 'Washington Insider'. Like britexpat said, we should expect no different. With all that being said, the best man won and now it is back to business as usual.

You can't teach experience...
He is black and he used it to his advantage to garner votes.
The funny thing is that many blacks feel that he "acted" white ..
Whatever, the reason, he deserves to be president and wil hopefully do well.
Based on what I have read, seen and heard, I have a lot of respect for McCain.
But, sadly, I think his age is beginning to show and his choice of Palin as a running mate was a huge mistake.
Can you imagine the 'pitbull with lipstick' as an effective DP? Somehow I cannot see it...
Obama managed to project himself as a much stronger and more sincere character than McCain. His running mate Biden was kept in the background throughout the election campaign and the focus was always on Obama himself.
The combination of the US people's deep dissatisfaction with the Bush administration, and the emergence of a charismatic personality such as Obama, meant that McCain never really had a chance.
Soon we will see if Obama can live up to expectations, I believe that he can and I hope that he will. Give the guy a chance!
A last thought. Given that McCain was severely hampered by the Bush legacy, and that his campaign was not nearly as slick as Obama's, he nevertheless showed in his final speech that his real and sincere concern was for his country and it's people.
He praised his opponent and pledged his support to him, and for this he deserves the greatest respect.
Obama has preached "Change".. So many countries , who have felt aliennated during the Bush years hope that Obama will bring reconciliation and change in their relationships.
However, to me, the bottom line is that Obama will first do what he feels is best for the USA. This is as it should be.

dont worry slaughtering will continue till the day of judgement.
Keep dreaming of OBL
The media played a major part in his election. However, he ran an excellent campaign. He got rid of Clinton on the way and got the votes of minorities, including the Hispanics..
Is the reference in the media that he is the first black president in the world. . . .What about Africa? 52 countries and no presidents?

Obama >>>>> McCain. /thread.

Eve,
Obama is not black or white. sorry no matter how you look at it he is a mixed race. not sure why he is calling himself a black man. I think the big reason for him being elected is the media they won the white house for him.
monolith,
dude you need to do some research
if palin becomes president of the US what would she do? send lip sticks to iraq? obama's win, may signify end of racial discrimination in the US,(or may be the white people are no longer the majority).. seeing the results, the southern states (more white people) mccain won... other areas like florida, cal, ny, (multi-racial area) it was obama... hawaii... landslide for obama almost 80%..its better to put a lawyer as a leader, than a soldier...lawyers will just argue and drop some quotes from the law books... soldiers less talk and drop bombs..

Are you nuts? (no offense implied or intended!)Look at the man...he is a true hero, coming at the heels of the underdogs. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School, who graduated from there with highest honors (Summa Cum Laude, meaning highest praise) and later, taught Constitutional Law for 10 years. He is a Constitutional Grandmaster, about a million times more educated and intelligent and HUMANE than the nerds called the McPalin group! McCain's only claim to fame: An ordinary POW in Vietnam, where he was of insignificant consequence in relation to more than 50,000 documented US causalities. Does that warrant him to be at the helm of the most powerful country? Oh God NO!! Obama will obviously inherit many systemic issues and problems. He does not have to cave in to the far-right side of the political equation. This man thus far has shown the vision to truly change the world...it is a historic opportunity for him, not because of his color, but because of the times, his personal outlook and the reality on the ground. I hope he does not squander this once, since-the-American-War-of-Independence chance. Such a chance will clearly NOT come again, at least in our lifetimes...
Cheers and enjoy your weekend!

Then we should plan a sabotage and replace it with a grizzly.
People will probably vote for the polar bear. Everybody loves a polar bear. What's with its cute white fur and the Coca-Cola Christmas commercials and stuff toys roaming around the world?

We only have to wait 4 years.
year 2012:
Mc'cain will probably die
Republican candidate: Sarah Palin
Democrat: Polar Bear.
Result: Sarah Palin 45th President.
And the fun starts then.
I don't mind..My real name starts with N anyway.lol!
but seriously...I guess this election americans used their brains wisely.

I think whoever used the N word is a person that is small minded and trys to put others down while trying to raise himself. Funny hero is Qatari you are not white either? What do you call Qataris that are black? We need the help of everyone in the world to make this work, every religion, race and culture. God knows Obama will bring a new energy and outlook to our govt. we have been sadly lacking. A republican told me Obama was not Black, I asked what was he then? I guess the last thing they would say is ALIEN, they said everything else they could. Its being reported now Palin spent even more than 150,000 on clothes she took advantage as she may never get the chance again. The Republicans deserved her but the world didn't. Thank God we will soon have a President that can speak without embarrassing us every single time he opens his mouth.
She's hot...and that's what only matters. LOL

But Sarah Palin is the woman in my dreams :)
Ban Spoon Feeding not Me
Who is the replacement you have in mind for him? Sarah Palin? Gee, Sarah Palin is better on the runways of Bryant Park than in than in West Wing! Gosh, she's not even close to Condoleeza Rice's intellect.
cheers,
paul
I respect any US president more than anyone around here who thinks America is a racist country. I even respect Dubya.
I was just saying I don't wanna hold my hats off on the new president yet. It's hardly around 2 days since he won. Let's see what happens in the coming months...

Respectfully
You need to quit winning!
Specially for anything that goes wrong around you.
I know for fact that you got better common cense, when it comes to your UNDERSTATEMENT.
Come on dude, give a break to the new era to shine the right way for once.
Unless you consider YOURSELF; one of those, of many ignorant Fuc#ers, that dwell this earth.
Your pessimism is complexly retarded.
You are not funny anymore.

you know...what really cranks me up is the amount of money spent on election and "image"...just think what could have been done for the homeless and/or less fortunate people...
