Right now I am using Toshiba M70 laptop....no much complaints. I am looking for a smaller and lighter one. My hubby need to take it with him while travelling.
toshiba and acer are the same company how u trust one and u dump the other. anyway almost 80% of the laptops have the same motherboard the only difference is the cooling system. hp is the best according to that. but if u want to spend more go for Apple, Asus; or IBM T series and not lenovo. Trust me i worked 2 years in this domain. if u can find Asus it will be good coz they made their own motherboard. Ibm used to made their motherboard. by the way T series is expansive coz its made of titanium; and it's water proof. one more thing if u r looking for a small laptop with high performance go to ibm X series and again not lenovo logo. cheers
dont ever by lenovo...acer...gateway...their prices are attractive but after 1-2 yrs u feel u wud rather have spent more and gotten a better thing then this...because they rlly slow down to a brick in a few yrs...go with toshiba for laptops...dell for desktops
I am having bitter experience with HP Pavilion series with AMD processor.
After giving it to Redigton (HP’s only authorise Service Center) for many times they told me that they are getting lots of complains for note books with same config. AMD processor generates heat and that damages the board (they replaced it twice in my note book) and other parts. It also reduces battery life. In my case, it runs for only 35 - 40 minutes even after choosing all power saving options.

Guys Dell sucks i got a lemmon... its crush all the time.... SONY VAIO is the good one and it makes ur life easier...
Try to avoid the following brands:
Acer(AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!)
Compaq
HP
Go for Dell, it wont let u down.
Or if u want top config for budget price, check out Fujitsu-Siemens.

(abr 09, 2008)
The most common question we get around here is simple: "What laptop
should I buy?" Being a generally difficult person by nature, I usually
respond with my own series of questions: "What size screen do you want?
How much do you want to spend?" and so on. But sometimes people just
want a simple suggestion, based on what I actually like.
So, here is a jargon-free list of the current crop of laptops that I'm
digging, either because they give you good bang for your buck, they
excel in their specific category, or because they just plain rock.
Lenovo ThinkPad X300
The
ThinkPad X300 breaks new ground by packing a broad display, full-size

loved the pitch for the Gateway P-6831 FX: a 17-inch laptop with 3GB of
