News from Doha Players

Dear Friends of the Theatre

We have some very big news!

The Qatari government has informed Doha Players that they will top up the Jon Adams Doha Players Fund (JADPF) that Qatar Academy and Doha Players started last year to fund the rebuilding of our theatre. Along with the money raised by the students of QA, the donation by the government will take the fund to 8 Million QR. In the immediate future, the DP Board will work towards rebuilding plans and organizing the demolition and construction of the new Doha Players Theatre Complex to include a new West End renamed the Jonathan Adams Center. There will be a press release soon. I would like to personally thank all of the people involved in getting us this far. The Board, both past and present, has worked extremely hard to keep DP going and at the same time work toward this achievement. Many other DP members, QA students and staff, QF staff, community members and business leaders have been so helpful, encouraging and supportive. This has been a huge learning experience for me, personally, and a proud moment for Doha Players. Thank you to all!

Our next big production is "Uncle Vanya" by Anton Chekhov which opens on 9th November. We'll let you know when tickets go on sale.

Auditions for the Pantomime (Sinbad the Sailor) have gone ahead and rehearsals are in high gear. We are looking for a venue and if all goes well we will be performing in early March. We also hope to perform the wonderful musical

"Annie" in May.

Kerry,

blinding news, well done! Sounds like a hell of a lot of money to me. I'm new out here, but you're obviously impressing people from what I've heard about what you do.

Any chance that you or one of your colleagues might be willing to give an interview to the Tribune? Bit of publicity shouldn't do any harm. Email below if possible.

Many thanks,

Joe
