New type of fraudness in Car classifieds
Dear Friends,
Have you ever noticed car classifieds, there has a luxury car with an average mileage and very very low price???? people will easy noticed and attracted in such a low mileage car with unbelievable price...but the reality is, you cant contact them in mobile or any telephone numbers..just mail only. Then you will get a detailed information by saying that they are in abroad and no one here to do search for a buyer and finally to check the real buyer you can send a western union transaction of certain percentage from one end to other...this is absolutely cheating..beware of such frowardness>>>> what do you think...at first i think its only an exceptional case, but recently a lot of such ads are coming, so take care and comment here with your opinion.
for stupidity.
This is quite common everywhere. Much more so on Dubai sites..
The simple thing is to ignore anything which seems too much of a good thing :O)
has been discussed many times.
This post should have been removed.
Most of us are aware...whats the point in so many posts these days on fraud...
If one hits the classifieds there is warning (highlighted) already there:
Quick Tip: Make Sure the Seller is in Qatar by checking for a local phone number and don't ever buy anything listed in $. Read Avoiding Scams and Fraud for more advice.
If even after all this one gets lured away out of greed then he/she deserves it.
While most of the people listing classifieds on Qatar Living are nice, normal and honest people we do occassionaly see a few scammers placing adverts. The best way to avoid these scams are:
DEAL LOCALLY WITH PEOPLE YOU CAN MEET IN PERSON - follow this one simple rule and you will avoid 99% of the scam attempts.
NEVER DEAL WITH ANYONE OFFERRING SOMETHING FOR SALE IN US DOLLARS ($) OR OTHER FOREIGN CURRENCIES - anyone who asks you to do so is a scammer.
NEVER WIRE FUNDS VIA WESTERN UNION, MONEYGRAM or any other wire service - anyone who asks you to do so is a scammer.
FAKE CASHIER CHECKS & MONEY ORDERS ARE COMMON, and BANKS WILL CASH THEM AND THEN HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE when the fake is discovered weeks later.
QATAR LIVING IS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY TRANSACTION, and does not handle payments, guarantee transactions, provide escrow services, or offer "buyer protection" or "seller certification"
NEVER GIVE OUT FINANCIAL INFORMATION (bank account number, social security number, eBay/PayPal info, etc.)
AVOID DEALS INVOLVING SHIPPING OR ESCROW SERVICES and know that ONLY A SCAMMER WILL "GUARANTEE" YOUR TRANSACTION.
IF SOMETHING SEEMS TO BE TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT USUALLY IS.
