how i wished me and my friend have read this before we travelled to Dubai last 30Dec, as we could have brought the best "goods" that cannot be bought here ;0 ... yeah, we came to know only when we arrived from Dubai last Jan 2

o for me its ok as I have Egate..for the other people and little people under 18 and families no good. Whay dont they have special ques for families and ladies? Then I dont have to wait for the rest of the family to clear quickly..:)

O yeah one more question did you have any problem with the coloured boarding passes and the different buses waiting at the bottom of the plane steps waiting for you?

milhode,

unfortunately most of us know what you mean.

I was here for the Asian Games, and it was indeed amazing... chaos!

Some of the planned works for 2006 Asian Games are yet to be completed!

@ baldrick2dogs - That's the reason why I came from the future to tell the real date of opening.

Honestly, will there evere be anything opened as per schedule. Today I read tht 70-80% of all projects for 2022 WC can be finished withing 7 years time. For me that means that there will be 5 years more of planning and untill the first plane arrives with WC 2022 guests there will be major construction work.

And they will build everything nice and cozy and then tear up the streets to do some wiring, etc.

The same procedure as always...

p.s.: I went to the Gas Station - even now it is a mess. When the Terminal is opened there will sure be more confusion and lost drivers

The bid slogan works again - EXPECT AMAZING !!!

baldrick2dogs,

thanks for the info!

I will now avoid the use of that gas station.

Mihode, the planned opening date is 2012, not 2018, though the plan and reality may greatly differ.

Another issue with the crazy road planning is that all the traffic from Teyseer petrol station now has to go through the airport road system in order to get out!

Madness, absolute madness!

Genesis,

Thanks for the info, it explains the reason for the white elephant.

I sure hope they will revisit its removal and the exit routes. This "temporary" solution was a plan for certain chaos.

That building is a primary electrical transmission substation. As far as I know , it will be dismantled soon.but you're right, that will surely create congestion at the RAA flyover.

lakes,

DOH is the destination's code.

NDIA and DIA is used to distinguish the future and the current airports.

Once the NDIA will start operation, Doha will still maintain the DOH code.

DOH is the correct airport code for Doha International Airport! Gulf Times should right the story proper.

mihode,

Even interim solution, require brains to plan effective operations, as these solutions are not going to be that temporary. Considering Qatar’s ability and reputation to deliver completed projects “on time”.

But this will just be a temporary terminal. Sme days from now the "state-of-the-art New Doha Internation Airport (NDIA)" will open and traffic will be nooooo problem....

Oh, I forgot to tell - I am from the future and the opening date for NDIA was declared today - it will be 18.12.2018 *g*

Does anybody know what that white elephant decorated with paintings representing horse’s right in front of that new arrival terminal.

Because of that building (horse stables?) the access to the new terminal has to c=go around it, making it congested and totally inadequate for an arrival terminal.

Yes, expect amazing traffic jams on the way in and out.

The Exit has no fluid traffic evacuation solutions. Those cars who do not wish to continue on the cornice but need to turn left or do a U-turn on the RasAbuud crossover will cause major traffic jams.

Where are the city planners of this amazing city??!!

"Passengers who have parked their vehicles at the main terminal will be offered a free shuttle service to transport them back to the car park on their return to Qatar."

Which has to go all the way down to Ras Abu Abbod flyover, U turn, drive all the way back to Toyota Tower, back up airport road, and into the Departure car park. Real sucky!

Fortunately I can cross the road and I'm home :o)
