Can a foreigner obtain a firearm license in Qatar?

I know most of you must ask why would I need a license in Qatar, but that's all together a different argument...

Please answer only if you have understanding about arms and ammunition law of Qatar.

That doesn't work for him either WB.

He looks at my records today and abuses me based on my need for a job. "You want driving job?" he asks and laughs. "Come tomorrow for interview I'll show you."

Moodie, looking at your track record it shows that you use the website to either promote your business of pick and drop or post ads for finding a job... you better keep yourself busy with your illegal taxi business, try not to advise people here...

People are free to posts their humorous opinion here as long as it does not hijack the topic as you say, but the aggression in your responses will neither gain you nor us anything.

We are not your information agency to give you a direct figure to your Questions. We are a forum of people who talk, discuss, laugh and find answers in this desert.

Can't bear with our humor, you may as well take your aggression and your questions elsewhere.

That said, AboBaaboo you made my day :D

UkEng... Hope you are doing well... :) yep! I often visit shooting range for practice... Met a Qatari guy who always carry his own rifle...

Justarrived, your logic is quite cheap, so next time don't advise anything to anyone based on your illogical logic... the answer is although its quite difficult, but YES you can obtain a license... (How? is totally different issue)

I am not sure why people in here try to sound like smart a**es ANY TIME ANY ONE asks something!!!

Do you people realize how annoying you are? Do you really think you are funny? This is pathetic and the informative website that used to be is turning into a LOSER site for those who have absolutely nothing to do in life but sit down and flap their mouths at anything.

Seriously, get out and go do something. Let people ask anything they want and let those who know answer!

Amazing how retarded people can be. I have never seen a forum with such immature people.

By GodFather.• 4 Oct 2012 13:34

just go the firing range where you can practice, no need for a license to practice. Its in Dafna

Wow, by calling me names and threatening me, it really shows your immaturity.

Seriously, ask yourself and think about it based on common sense and logic (if you have one): Would a Government in the Middle East, who mostly have internal issues and caters to different cultures and nationalities, allow other people, especially expatriates, to have guns?

Please think about it and, hopefully, you are mature enough to realize the silliness of your question and not resort to name calling or threatening / bullying.

"you don't know me well?"

You are Casanova...the one & only Casanova....one of the greatest lovers in history

Casanova who has such a wonderful grip on romantic words and poetry...which is very clear in the posts that you are making

You, Cupid and Don Juan have managed to spread so much love and romance in this world...which we all enjoy and appreciate

As for the fire arms, are you a lover or a fighter?

ok buddy tell you what..yes i see your point now that you've explained..you did ask for serious replies and are approaching the whole thread as such..fair enough..and yes i have to agree about the bashing bit..these forums are a poorer place due to it and intolerance in general. And yes of course my opinion of your signature does not matter at all; in fact now I feel it was inappropriate of me to bring it up. So I apologize for misinterpreting your replies to some users and perhaps being rude myself while accusing you of being so. Anyways, have a great evening ahead buddy:-)

Here's for the benefit of those who are curious to know why would a foreigner ask for a firearm license in Qatar...

I'm a member of rifle club and a firearm license owner in my home country, where there's a ban on importing arms since late seventies, so we have to live with either normal below standard ordinance guns or buy an obsolete model American or German gun, the only way to have a good weapon is if you are a Non Resident citizen and you own a gun for more than one year in your country of residence, you will be allowed to transfer that gun on your home country's license in case you are exiting the country of residence finally...

Few of my friends who were living in US has done the same thing, so I thought to ask if it's allowed in Qatar as well...

I just hope this will end the curiosity of many restless souls...

Stealth... lolzzzz, that's rude... I just hope Khanan doesn't read this...

mohdata, It is not necessary that every time people are posting something to listen to your pathetic jokes, when I wrote in advance that I need only serious reply on this, means you shouldn't be messing up with the thread...

Members should learn to respect, I'm neither a new member nor a troll on Qatar Living.

many members stopped visiting QL because of the bashing being done by some pseudo-intellectuals on the forum... many members are afraid of posting anything, coz in a friction of second their posts are hijacked and they are labelled as stupids.

And ya... As far as my signature is concerned, I don't think your assumption or opinion matters at all...

Hope you understand... :)

AboBaaboo... That's kind of a noble cause you are involved with... I appreciate, otherwise who on earth likes to be taken as a stupid mule hole for putting a smile on someone's face...

you are either a new member or a troll, but in both the cases you don't know me well, so it's more than good for you to keep your pathetic jokes to yourself and try not hijacking this thread...

Thank you

Apparently, the number of guns held by civilians is 520,000 ..

So be wary of taking on that Landcruiser :O(

try to live with buying a white Landcruiser. It is a good killing machine for beginners.

Then, you need to get a no-objection letter from your sponsor stating that he has no objection on registering you as "007"

Then Mr Ban Ki-Moon can certify that your fire arms will be used only for peaceful & scientific matters

Then the fire brigade will issue you a lisence for arms that do not ignite fire

Then you are free to bring as many bows & arrows as you wish

That is as serious as I can get

By anonymous• 27 Sep 2012 09:32
anonymous

Agree. I for one do now wish for anyone, except police and military personnel, to have guns.

So please do not ask and don't ever think of owning a gun here. If you want, buy guns in your home country and use it there anytime you want...

Well i think i know why the op Wants a firearm. It could be related to the news that the citizens of UAE can buy weapons....

I am dying of curiosity , to know why you need a gun here in Qatar!

By anonymous• 27 Sep 2012 08:22
anonymous

I think someone posted a map where a person can die here in Doha, wouldn't it be a good advice to post it here for his information?

Seriously though, why need a gun? Do we have gangsters or druglord (like Mexico)? Do we have high criminality rates (like the US)? Do we have civil war or conflicts (like Syria / Lebanon)? I can't think of a sane reason why you would need a gun, except as what smoke has said or you just want to suddenly off your boss or officemates.

If that is the case, please tell me now so I can transfer employment to where I am far away from you...

By smoke• 27 Sep 2012 07:10

Casanova as per my understanding after a few months you WILL need a firearm...trust me i know that feeling but killing yourself is not the answer :)
