Near to be sucked by the tide in Inland Sea
We had to pick up everything really quick and run... (eventhough we were near to be stuck in the soft sand/mud).
Is there any library where I can find a tide book of Qatar/Mesaieed/Doha??
<< I know there are some pages online - but they are useless when you are in the dessert - Im looking for a real printed book, I can touch >>
Oops.. thats scary
A Qatari famliy's LC was drowned near the Sealine beach,
though they were warned by the by-passers..
I have the iphone app "tideapp" for this, doesn't have the inland sea, but has ummsaieed - just add on half an hour. Nothing worse than getting stuck in deep salty mud!!
Tide varies all the time, so you are to check the tidal prediction. It could be done on easytide.com for free. Good luck.
not really horrible, Oryx...
as maximum, I would lose the car
LOL! A "material tragedy", but anything that can be replaced with money is not so so so terrible...
Sorry to hear about this!
Glad you are ok :)
Not very much to explain.
I deployed my camp near the shore in Inland Sea. I was swiming when I noticed that sea was rising quickly.
I needed to go out, pick up everything in a shot and get out of the area with the car as soon as I could. I was never so happy to drive again in sand, instead of soft sand/mud.
I have found online sites like this:
http://www.mobilegeographics.com:81/calendar/month/3973.html
But I would prefer a printed book, as the traditional ones: http://www.watersportswarehouse.co.uk/shop/sailing-boating/accessories/now-in-2010-tide-time-tables-356762.html
in sailor and fishermen lands I think it should be easy to find.
@rb73 - thanks, Ill check those places.
Tidal predictions are sold at CGIS Hydrographic Survey Division located close to Qatar Central Bank. I am not very sure but I guess you can also buy tidal book from Al Lingawi Trading (Garmin dealer) located at the following Address;

I'm unable to help for your book hunt, but,
share your experience of the tide with us eu61 plz...
Errm, do the tides not depend on the moon, and therefore change?
Am not sure, but I think that is how it goes...:/
