Nadal and Federer will play Qatar Open Tennis
Great news for tennis fans in Qatar. Having just seen the worlds best female players, next year you'll be treated to the best mens players.
DOHA, Qatar – Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer will open the 2009 ATP season by playing at the Qatar Open.
Qatar tennis federation president Nasser al-Kholiafi says Andy Murray and Andy Roddick will also take part in the hard-court tournament, which begins Jan. 5.
The tournament in Doha is one of three to start the 2009 tennis season, along with the Brisbane International in Australia, and the Chennai Open in India.

Any news about the tickets? Do you know if they are for sale now?
Civilization is a method of living and an attitude of equal respect for all people
I hope they sell tickets at the gate with seats available. The tickets in the sony ericksson event were cheap and so people bought them and did not show up and so there were many vacant seats and people being turned away at the gate.
i am so goin to get myself the tickets~
is it?what time do you think will it start? and how early would you think should i be there to get the best seat? i love to seat in front closer to the players...is it free admision everywhere also? im excited already...daemn! how many match will there be in 1 day?
I just love tennis....
I just can't believe that I will be seeing this guys play.
I love Doha-Qatar!
In previous years tickets for each days play only become available on each day of the competition. You just go down to the tennis complex in the morning and get them. They are free.
Please, please, please tell me where can I buy tickets? I think the earlier I can get hold of this tickets the better.
:)
Tickets are normaly free with event the only problem is that you have to pick them on the day and only two per person.. Let the Tennis begin..
Will be bloody cold at that time of year as per past two years.. especially now they have the high seat also..

HE WHO DARES WINS
Ticket sales and prices will be the same at the Sony Ericsson Championships

I don't think brit's implying that he wasn't planning on coming. But the fact is that he isn't any more.
Nadal and Federer seems pretty likely though, barring injury of course. Federer won the tournament in 05 and 06, and it's grown in stature every year.
anyone who gets the internal QF emails can confirm it for you.

i'll b there for sure it reminds me of two greats sampras and agassi in the 90's
i'll sleep in the gate the night b4 to secure the courtside seats. and not to forget a thick thick jacket

Normally the tickets are free. You just need to pick them up early on the day from the tennis stadium.
Unfortunately the "free seating" arrangement means the stands are a complete mess. Even when people paid for tickets at the recent WTA event things were pretty chaotic. It's such a shame cos it ruins what are otherwise very good sporting events.
oohhhhh, so lucky they give us free VIP tickets.
I think they will not come. Qatar has delayed their start money payment for three months.
You can't teach experience...
Oh thats good then.
it might be the same as before... free sittings but have to get a ticket at the gate...
But it is not good for me as I will return to Doha on 4th of Dec. So I will not get the good tickets this time it seems.
i don't think its free since the top tennis players will take part. Isn't it nice? And besides, its better to have tickets to avoid over-crowding.
cheers,
paul
I think the tickets were only for the WTA super 8's event. Now it will be the same as before.
Is it still the same, free entry or will it be tickets this time?
you dont wanna be up there again? =))
How about Novak Dyokovic? I'm a big fan of the Serbians.
I should buy a ticket as early as possible! ;o)
cheers,
paul
