Ishutanu, you should not gone to the Doctor immediately, if you know you have a low fever only, you should have taken the common paracetamol first, in two days, there seem no effect, because usually, medicine took effect only after two to three days, so we have to learn how to feel ourselves, don't panic or else it will make you feel worst just as you have said, coz aside from the reaction of the doctor, the test is not necessary unless, he really tested or cheched your fever and asked you how long had that been. And should even asks what have you been feeling so he will know the symptoms, then if he heaard of the symtoms there he will have the suspect of having a real trouble to you that needs confirmation from the blood test. But by just taking the blood test and X-tray without testing you first, that is a hold-up with consent. He just want to charge you with unnecessary things you don't really need it as you said it is just a mild fever. Poor ! You were victimized by your innocense and your fear. You doubled your fever from two things,

1.The charges

2.The sense that you had a serious ailment because of x-ray and blood test.

It's good, he didn't tell you to stay there for observation, the more you get fear and might cause you heart attack, this is a serious matter. For mild fever, always feel yourself first, take paracetamol, if for colds and coughs, look at your throat, if it is pain hard to swallow, and hard to talk, then followed by a fever, take antibiotics for not lessthan one week, but anyway you can feel it if ti is effective in one day, then continue and then you will be fine, but if in at least five days you don't feel any diference yet, then go to the doctor, and don't forget to mention what medicine you have taken.

"There's nothing we can do to change the past, if it teaches  you a lesson profit from it then, forget it."

Recently I went to apollo clinic for a muscular damage to my thigh. The doctor hardly inspected me but asked me to get an MRI, a very expensive test as my disc was pressing on the Ciatic nerve. He did not do an X-ray first. I went to another clinic where the doctor carried out a thorough examination and found the cause after an X-ray. Nothing to do with a disc pressing on a nerve, simple muscular injury due to jogging!!!! Here you go..the MRI would have cost QR1350. Will never go here again and do not recommend to anyone!!!!

Sounds like an appraisal system for doctors is of the utmost importance. Especially when they have been trained overseas and work in private practice. Ethically for a doctor to do these things could mean him eventually losing his license if he continues after warnings.

The health care system is still in its infancy in the middle east they have yet to understand the intricacies of providing medical care and clinical governence.

Most people who hire doctors have no understanding that they do anything more than see patients throughout the day. And this is a big problem because middle eastern companies do not hire or pay for quality!

I find that most clinicians here misuse and abuse the use of diagnostic tests, either for money-making or incompetence lacking clinical skills in arriving to a sensible diagnostic conlusion.  Like for example in the case of simple back pain (without history of trauma/spine infection/ ruling out RED FLAGS), how many of you have been referred right away for x-ray or MRI without proper history taking and physical examination by the clinician? and diagnose your problem with the x-ray/MRI findings?? Ridiculous I would say.  OK, x-ray result may state degenerative changes etc. or MRI result may state prolapse disc...SO? I can have my spine scanned and have similar results but may have no symptoms at all!!

Just a money-making machine. The bad part is that the doctors do not inspire any confidence in you ! I suggest Al Rafa for kids. For adults, sorry !!! I can't see a single doctor who passes muster...

guys ... if this something to do with your kid/s i advice you should just go direct to Al Saad emergency paediatric centre. Their doctor and nurses are very efficient ... and their medicine is subsidized so cost next to nothing. Just make sure you have your health card. Nearly 7 yrs here i been to that place twice for my son for emergency... and i cant complained about them.

with outpatients. In India Apollo is well known five star hospital Like Hyd, Chennai

they have best consultants in Goa too.

I have been using Apollo's services since 1999 and no complains but in Doha

its different case.

Qatar Govt. is not giving them licence to run full fleged hospital. Doctors who are on payroll are just general practioners

but if you get so upset about such a little thing you are way too overstressed.   I have been to the emergency room 2 times this month with my small child.   He was injured at school and  2 weeks later at the neighbors.   Broken bone once and  lots of stitches the other time.       Patience and calmness are what are needed in thes situations.

I once had a bad experience. My daughter was vomiting continuously and went late around 9.00 PM. The response of the general practitioner was pathetic. My daughter was shivering; unable to stand and this guy was sending her to x-ray and blood test. For more than half an hour we were waiting in the waiting room. I got furious and threatened to walk out and complain. Immediately he administrated trips and sent her to Children emergency Hospital.  You can't compare this hospital with parent hospital in India. The less I said about Doctors here the better.

That was unethical for the doctor to do so as he had no medical reason to waste money on such tests.. and I would write a complaint against the doctor. Do you have insurance from your company? It might be a good idea to write to your company and insurer about the incident as well.

I really hope a new system of appraising doctors and a board to govern good practice is discovered. InshAllah ameen.

why would an x-ray/blood test be manadatory? I would have thought unless drs have a particular concern that warrants an xray/blood test, they wouldnt order it...

Ive been to American hosiptal few times and even on my first visit, they never requested any of them....

wait I didn't get it, you had a bad experience because you were asked to take an X-Ray?

Just to let you know that an X-Ray and Bloodtest are mandatory for all clinics if you are not on the central database and/or they don't have that information.

wow what an experience..glad you are fine...

ALthough he said you were fine and prescribed antibiotics??? which he said they are like sleeping pills. I didnt think antibiotics and sleeping pills were the same thing???I would use google and check what it is he exactly gave you and see the side effects? Something doesnt sound right....

I swear the health system here leaves a lot to be desired..they either want to make money out of your insurance and/or dont know what the hell they are talking about....

Its quite normal here in Gulf that the clinics/private hospitals try to get the maximum benifit from the insurance coverage.

I have seen it a lot of times the doctors giving my kids a lot of expensive medicines and asking not to use them.
