I'd like to ask for all your advices about this new traffic law. they said that you should wait for the police before moving your car after an accident so my husband followed this. He was hit from behind by another car so they waited for the police to come. when the police came they were scolded cause they are causing traffic. The man who hit him told the police that he already agreed to pay for the damage so my husband was the one given penalty of QR1000 for not moving vehicles.it's really making us mad.

The outside (left) lane is for overtaking and the inside (right) lane is for going slow.

but yes, the car should have been moved.  I agree with some other comments, it is so annoying when you see a couple of cars with minor bumps blocking the road.

It's very simple.... Minor means no one is injured, and the cars are able to move... Major means someone is injured or the cars are too damaged to be moved around... I think that when there is a major disagreement between two drivers has to who is the fault you can keep your cars in the way of traffic and block half the city for another hour... Seriously that move your car law after an accident is soooooooooo goood !!!! Now all the people with stupid accidents are not blockin' us anymore

this was on the papers a couple of months now advicing all motorists atht if its a minor accident and both cars can be moved, then both drivers must move their cars so not to block the flow of traffic. now if you did not move your car and its just a minor bump and you cause traffic or block the flow of traffic, then the traffic department would penalize both drivers.

If it is not critical take the car number and move on these are the rules nowadays. take the insurance number and for God's sake take a small accident kit in your car and make photos.

I was also bumbed this morning, but no damage to me orthe other, so move on and thank your lucky stars nothing happened.

I think everyone should have this kind of kit in their car no mater what happens.

Cold blooded seems a bit dramatic.  Sounds like he just didn't know the new law. If no one is hurt, you have to move the car.

Dear momsy,

listen it's known that the one who hit from behind is the mistaken .. so no need to cause traffic .. simply take move ur cars and go to the traffic office ... there is nothing to be judged .. he hit from behind .. it'ss his fault ..

BUT NOW YOUR HUSBAND FOR SOME SILLY REASONS WERE STUBBORN AND DECIDED NOT TO MOVE HIS CAR AND HE DESERVE 100000000000000000000000000 QR.S BCUZ OF THE TRAFFIC HE CAUSED .. YOU SUCH PEOPLE ARE SO COLD BLOODED AND U DON'T CARE FOR OTHERS ..

Imagine if some one was taking his kid to the hospital .. DO U KNOW THAT UR HUSBAND CAN BE A REASON OF THIS KIDS DEATH??

I'm sorry if i lost my temper .. but do understand the laws well so that u don't make troubles or traffic causes .. and finally i'm really happy that they gave him this penalty ... hope it's going to be a lesson for all and thanks for sharing this lesson ..

same with novita, i always have my digi cam ready in my car. or my phone can take good pics too. so be ready with this. as far as my own experience you have to move your car once the accident is only minor which only scratch or small dent. the police will knows who's fault by your story. so move you vehicle to save place to avoid traffic blocking.

Everybody is right Everybody is wrong, it depend where stand.

best Idea is to take photo of the position of the vehicle  and remove the vehicle to the nearest parking or you can directly take to nearest murroor.

almost all mobile is with the facility of camera...

if u hav a mobile camera take pictures of all the 4 sides and then move the car. when police comes show him the pic.

keeping a small pocket cam in the car is a good idea Novita. Never thought about tht.  Now I have to get it ready in my handbag.

If both of the drivers know and agreed who is fault was that, then they should move quickly to the nearest traffic police station. If they won't and would block the way like that, then the one who does not want to move in the first place would be charged.

fyi also, a friend of mine got a fine because he was driving on the left side below the speed limit ... The street sign said:100 and he was driving like 50 or 60 ... so be careful guys ...

When you phone in the accident to the police you should ask them whether it is ok to move the cars.

If ther is some dent on the back side bumper of your vehicle, your husband could have very well moved the car to the parking lot. Because in this type of cases, the person who hits from the back side is fined.

good thing me and my baby were not with my husband.we sit at the back.

guess! we have to learn our lesson the hard way with the QR1000 fine.

By MOMSY• 18 Mar 2008 07:46

that's the thing. who are we to decide what's major or minor? and it's not just a scratch in the car. the back of the car was dented. the thing what if you the car and the police would say otherwise?!we are the one hit and now we are still being the one fined?it sure is a strange situation.

By novita77• 18 Mar 2008 07:44
novita77

I guess the one who decide it the police. I know the one who bump you from behind is the one in the wrong. And in the past the one who bump you from behind have to pay QR 100 fine.

But i did remember being told by my husband to move my car just in case i involve in the minor accident (bump), he being told by some local friends at work to make sure to move the vehicles away from the main road since now the traffic police 'slapping' QR 1000 fines for this.

Now i carry around small pocket camera everytime i go out in the car as suggested by my husband 's friend at work ... took the photos before you move your vehicle, so the other party cant deny who is in the wrong.

i think we are not interested in the which car will cost more to repair...a minor accident would be a small bump in the car that hasnt caused anyone serious injury and both cars are still in working condition that they can move to the side and avoid traffic jams. sometimes i get so pissed of when i see cars with a slight scratch blocking the whole damn traffic.

Novita,

Who will decide whats minor or what major???

A simple bump on Merc will cost good fortune to fix compared to a bump on Toyota... If it was wrongly judge then a wrong person will end up paying the damage...

Wow, Thats very strange...

Well, its hard to decided whos right and whos wrong...

Your husband did the right thing by not moving, such that the police can access the situation and decided whos fault it was, but at same time the traffic department has given a curricular to move there vechiles for minor accidents and if its causing any traffic problem.

What surprises me is, that they have fined you for this....

Its better if you could take some one who can speak arabic and talk to the captain.

the new traffic law said minor accident like 'bump' the cars who involve in the accident have to move the vehicles in order not disrupt traffic flow. And yes i read somewhere the fine is QR 1000
