Missing cat in Al Gharafa area, near the sport center.
Light tabby, female cat missing since 24th November.
Please have a look at the picture attached.
If you have seen her or hear about, please call 703 6592.
Ok that's a lot more then I'm feeding mine right now, but since I put her on the diet I have noticed she's been a bit more active. With the other 2 it's easy, I put their bowls up on the counter, since the fattie only has one eye she doesn't like to jump up on anything so her food stays on the ground, the others is on the counter.
The easiest way to keep a cat on a controlled diet is to feed her something like royal canin that will tell you on the back exactly how much to the last gram they should get each day!!
At QAWS all the cats have one of the double bowls that holds food on one side and water on the other. They get a full bowl of dry biscuit in the morning and they just eat what they want during the day and then one meat meal in the evening - about 1/4 of a can of meat - and their biscuit topped up again for the night. If they get a bit on the tubby side then we don't give them second helpings of biscuit in the evening!! Unfortunately though to get them to lose weight they need to increase their exercise which is normally the hardest bit - most of ours are lazy critters that refuse to do anything then eat and sleep!
But then if you have more then one cat you've got no hope of watching how much biscuit they eat cos they'll just steal from the others!!
I'm a non-vegetarian animal lover. I don't eat my animals because they are pets - even the chickens at QAWS are safe from being dinner.
I'm an animal welfare advocate. If the animal is treated correctly within the limitations of the 5 Freedoms, I don't see there being an issue with eating meat, or eggs, or drinking milk.
I don't agree with battery farming, intensive farming systems, cruel transportation or inhumane slaughtering techniques. I don't eat cat or dog or horse or even rabbit. I find the farming of veal and fois gras disgusting yet I used to work on an organic, free range rare breeds farm in the UK that used to send a certain number of surplus animals for slaughter and then sold the meat in the farm shop.
But this isn't the place to discuss this as this is about Sabed finding her cat.
Gotta agree with Chelsea Sandeep, One of my girlies has only one eye and is so fat now she's far from being a show piece, but I'd take in a dozen more like her (if my hubby to be would let me)!
On another note, anyone know how much a cat should eat in a day? I've put my fatty boom ba on a diet but I'm worried she's eating too little now.
There are plenty of cute kittens sat around the dumpsters - I don't know where you're looking but there's tons around where I live. There are far too many feral cats for people to help - how can you take a cat from the street if it doesn't like people and runs away? The kittens are the easiest to catch as they are normally not as afraid of humans.
Why don't you come down to QAWS where you'll see a shelter full of normal looking cats. We have one kitten in at the moment that has no eyes because an infection ate away at them. It's not particularly cute and it needs medication for a while but she'll get rehomed because there are so many animal lovers that will want to help her.
Sabed's cat is just a regular short haired cat so how can you accuse everyone of just looking after the cute ones? It's cute because it's well looked after and healthy - it's not some purebred persian or siamese.
Still you didn't answer my question, Why don't I ever see a cute cat sitting on those dumpsters, why only the poor ugly ones. Cute ones always find a home so it appears to me you are taking home a showpiece rather than providing shelter to an animal and really caring about it.
I really love the way you said, your kind as if I am mentally deranged or something. Anyway carry on your show of loving animals. By the way are you Non-Vegetarian?
I am confused, happens too often in life, If there are so many cat lovers around, why do I see half a dozen cats sitting on every dumpster eating off people's garbage or do you guys take care of only the cute looking kitties. Don't ask me to take care of them as I simply dislike animals.
I think our cat was in the house. It smells like women's perfume. Hang in the area ad with a Lizzy's photo. She's beautiful, maybe someone took her to house...
Scythian, I will sure look around for your cat too. I have put up some flyers in the compound and talked with the security of the compounds nearby.
My cat is not strong, she cannot jump or climb, that's why I am worried for her.
Alexa, thank you for your kind answer. Lizzy (the cat) was born in Qatar, has been with us in UAE and we came back in Qatar in August. That's a good idea to check the compound where we lived before, near Fish Market. It is a long way from Al Gharrafa, but it is worth a try.
There are a few cats in our compound too, so I don't think she was taken away by municipality workers. I am afraid she got staked somewhere, she is not a strong cat. I keep looking for her and hope she will be back.
I see alot of feral cats in our neighborhood so I don't think they are doing the cat project at present so you have a good chance of getting your cat back. Let us know if you find her.
Chelsea, thank you. I have sent an email to Qaws with the picture and microchip number. I have called Qatar Veterinary Center (Lizzy, my cat was booked for boarding in December; have let them know she is missing).
Eve, I have walked all over the compound and around calling her at different hours of the day and night.I leave the entrance door open all day long just hoping she will find her way back.Unfortunately she was not wearing a collar (I took it off the night before because it was dusty and I blame myself for that), but she has a microchip.
Eve, I hope and wish you will find your dog.
Hotcake, thank you for your kind thought.
I so wish my cat is all right and nobody hurt her. This is my nightmare, somebody beating her or she is starving to death somewhere and I don't know. The worst is to not know what happened.
I think it helps to go around the neighborhood calling for your cat if she is used to a specific sound maybe she will come. I hope you had a collar on her if not the govt. program think they are wild. Hope you get it back. I am working hard to find our dog, I put up posters and in minutes someone is taking them down so I know he is in the neighborhood :( good luck
Oh to the person that said they don't know why we care so much for pets, pets actually bring joy to your life and help bring down your blood pressure so help you health wise as well as well as becoming a member of your family!
Sabed - If you have a flyer for your missing kitty can you send it to me at [email protected] and I will put it up at the rescue shelter. Try and get a flyer up at Qatar Veterinary Centre and The Veterinary Surgery as well in case someone takes her in there.
Black Buller - Instead of wasting time hijacking a thread with non-constructive comments, why don't you use the time to learn how to use the english language properly. Talkin lyk dis is well annoyin.
Black buller, the best for you would be to mind your own business. Your contribution or lack of it is not welcome. As about the "carassing" you, better to ask the forum Moderators for it.

Yes it is about the cat here so I should withdraw from here. All the best with the cat sabed.

Chelsea what about Non-Vegetarian animal lovers. I find that a bit amusing, don't you.
Anyway sabed I was just teasing you, I get this fits when I just have to tease someone over anything.. Don't take me too seriously.
Gotta agree with Chelsea Sandeep, One of my girlies has only one eye and is so fat now she's far from being a show piece, but I'd take in a dozen more like her (if my hubby to be would let me)!

Take care..
So you are obviously writing in the wrong subject.
There are not enough animal lovers to care for the "dozens of cats" Unfortunately there are too many of your kind.
I am confused, happens too often in life, If there are so many cat lovers around, why do I see half a dozen cats sitting on every dumpster eating off people's garbage or do you guys take care of only the cute looking kitties. Don't ask me to take care of them as I simply dislike animals.
Alexa, my cat was neutered 2 years ago, so that's out of the question. I so hope she is somewhere taken care of and not suffer of hunger and cold.
Hope you are right Scythian, that she is in somebody's house, but the chances are slim, not many cat lovers around.
One time my cat mistakenly got in someone elses house and was on their roof crying so maybe she is just confused and will come back.
I think our cat was in the house. It smells like women's perfume. Hang in the area ad with a Lizzy's photo. She's beautiful, maybe someone took her to house...

Black bull, please feel free to spend all your extra money helping people"out there". also, let me decide how to spend my time and money.
... are a human's best friend. They don't betray and stab you in the back. And what is it your business if we spend money on our pets?
This subject about starving people and pets has been discussed before, just not worth going there again. Small minds, what else can I say...
I do hope you find your cat sabed. My fingers are crossed.
Thank you, LadyJane. Still have some hope she will come back.
...kitty! From one cat lover to another, I hope you find her.
