If given a chance to have a one on one, 30-minute meeting with these high-profile individuals, what are you going to say?

1. HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani

2. Akbar Al Baker, CEO (Qatar Airways)

3. Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Thani, Chairman (Qatar Telecom)

4. Grahame Maher, newly-appointed CEO (Vodafone Qatar)

5. Barack Obama, President-elect (United States)

Yes, that's the bit the company press releases don't tell you ;) So it's a case of swings and roundabouts.

GTL requires more resources to produce the same output, though I've seen reports that say that despite the extra resources needed GTL still produces less emissions during production than oil. I expect there are many reports saying slightly different things though.

Either way, for both GTL and oil the combustion stage carries the much greater impact on the environment than the production stage, so a reduction in emissions during combustion outweighs any increase at production.

By ngourlay• 17 Nov 2008 12:45

tallg - but it takes more energy to produce GTL, which produces more emissions, yes?

How is suggesting the someone is not Qatari racism???

Anyway, to those who want to ask HH what his plan is for Qatar in the coming years, I believe they recently released their "30 year plan" for Qatar.

ngourlay - gtl fuel produces lower emissions when burned compared to oil based fuels, hence it's better for the environment.

r u suggesting that Akbar is not qatari ;)

I have met the two Qataris on the list and I have a lot of respect for them.

I have also met Akbar, he's just like the wonderful wizard of Oz sitting on his throne, and Qatar Airways would be Emerald City. They would need a toto, and a scarecrow.

1. HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani

I met him already, but I would like to ask him 'What is your 10 year plan for Qatar?' I want to know.

2. Akbar Al Baker, CEO (Qatar Airways)

Saw him, but I didn't think talking to him would be beneficial.

3. Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Thani, Chairman (Qatar Telecom)

Can't think of anything to talk about.

4. Grahame Maher, newly-appointed CEO (Vodafone Qatar)

Can't think of anything to talk about.

5. Barack Obama, President-elect (United States)

Oh, I would have a lot to talk to him about. But I would advise him to take more care of America and the Americans - and stay out of the Worlds business.

Al Baker: Is Qatar Airways over-leveraged compared with other airlines? Why would burning kerosene made from gas be any better for the environment than kerosene made from oil?

Sheikh Abdulla: why does a country that has built most of its roads in the last 15 years not think to bury fibre under the streets while they were being built?

Maher: has the global board of Vodafone signed off on you censoring the internet in Qatar?
