As we have here in Switzerland an endless political discust about to legalize or dont, whats your meaning about it?
Is it a simple drug or should it have the same status as Alcohol and Cigarettes? In some cases it can be used also as a medicine.
How do you think about it?

Greenie FTW!! Vacationing in Qatar (1st time) from California & not being able to bring organic anxiety medication posed a huge problem on day one for a particular person in our group – and still a smaller problem for the rest of us. I’ve never gotten weed from an online forum… seems super sketchy – but I thought I’d try anyways. I e-mailed Greenie ( haha420kush@gmail com ) and within less than ONE HOUR all of our problems were solved. Of course prices were affordable – BUT THE BUD WAS JUST AS GOOD!!! I’m telling you —- strait chronic. IN Qatar! Greenie e-mailed me back ASAP, had a great way of getting me what I needed and even threw in some roll papers and a blunt for good business! So what did I do?? – called him again. Went through the sack another 1 oz time (haha typical) and needed more, so Greenie pulled through yet again. AND WITH MORE ROLL PAPERS!!! Greenie feels like my neighborhood “guy” – trustworthy and professional. I think some posts here are from unreliable vendors trying to rip off people, cuz you can tell this guy isn’t trying to rip anyone off – he’s actually running a legit business. E-MAIL GREENIE ( haha420kush@gmail com ) IF YOU’RE DEBATING IT, cuz I DID & I WAS IRIE IN ONE HOUR!! XD

yeah I agree with what Gypsy wrote.

Ever think if history had been a little different then marijuana and not alcohol would be now advertised on the streets and in the media of the UK. Gift wrapped bags of weed would be given at birthdays and Christmas and the nation would overall be healthier and safer.

I forgot the multibillion dollar industries behind it.

Example of that: The Bail AND LOAN companies camping outside the court houses.

The private PENITENTIARY SYSTEMS.

Don't forget the millions of dollars spent on convicting people of charges related to marijuana. Surely that could go towards cleaning up harder drugs.

alcohol is a bigger thread to youngsters in many ways. Just I disagree when people make it sound like marijuana is an innocent plant and helps you love music, peace, love and not war and all the nice sixty's things. It doesn't mean that because alcohol or even cigarettes are equally or more harmful, marijuana isn't.

As far as it is not legalised and controlled, it is a bigger threat, because its trade is handled by vicious people that stop nowhere in order to make money.

I can't relate to that at all jasskat. The first time I ever saw cocaine was in Bahrain, I've never been around it back home or know anyone whos done it. Perhaps I was a bit sheltered in my little town. Plenty of alcohol and pot, but not much else.

Gypsy,

Yes, I am from the states. Underage drinking isn't really a big deal, everyone can do it and parents don't really care. Although it is illegal, its more like Europe where alcohol isn't that big of a deal. It was only in the last 25 years or so that the drinking age was moved to 21.

I think kid go right to drugs because its more dangerous and thrilling or something like that. Anyone can get alcohol here, but drugs thats the cool thing for young kids.

I was raised in a no drug or alcohol allowed household, but I would go to parties and see kids doing all sorts of stuff. The parents would be happy if it was only alcohol, most kids would be doing lines of coke or heroin. In fact during school, most kids were soo drugged out. Alcohol seems tame by comparison.

You could say the same thing about alcohol Cyman.

Jass you're from the States right? I've heard that about the states (I have some friends who grew up their) I never thought it made sense to go straight into drugs, but from what I understand underage drinking is so deeply frowned upon that most kids start getting into drugs because it's easier to get.

smoking marijuana, I did not compare it to alcohol. I agree with those who say that alcohol causes more social problems, more road accidents, more addiction. But marijuana is not an innocent little herb. Avoid it if you can. Weak people could get addicted and ask for more. Or just willing to try more, they get into the trap of the stronger drugs. After all don't forget that by smoking it you contribute into the drug dealers bank accounts. These people are responsible for the ruin of so much young people.

Most kids where I was from started smoking pot in middle school, but didn't drink until later.

The worst part is, I grew up in a place with good schools, nice neighborhoods...the parents were just those rich detached let the nanny raise the children types.

By the time I was in high school, you could see kids smoking out their BMW's and doing coke in the bathroom. I guess alcohol was too tame or something.

I think alcohol is the gateway. How many people do you know never had a drink but started smoking pot then turned to coke? Most people experiment with alcohol first, and then proceed from there.

Gypsy- got it. I was think about smoke, not what was in it! Cigs. on that point are sooo much worse.

I think pot is dangerous as a gateway, I've seen to many people go from pot quickly to coke.

I think alcohol is dangerous to the people around a drunk person- probably causes much more second hand deaths then first hand like drunk driving accidents and the such.

I've never heard the marijuana smoke isn't as harmful, isn't all smoke equally destructive? Or is it that you just don't get as much smoke from one joint? Or you don't chain smoke like with cigs.?

Marijuana isn't even as destructive as cigarettes. The chances of lung cancer or other types of cancer is much less.

i saw a documentary many years ago about why marijuana became illegal.

basically, according to the doc, at some point not too long before it became illegal, someone had invented a "hemp ginny" which would have resulted in huge savings in its production costs, like the cotton ginny before it that turned cotton from a luxury item to a mass market item over night. the theory was that the major chemical companies in the US at the time, who were making huge sums of money from the chemicals they sold to the paper industry, would have lost their main customers because paper made from hemp would not need these chemicals. these companies had massive loans from the federal government so they would have lost out too.

interesting theory - not sure if it's true, but as you point out, when compared to alcohol the danger to society is so slight that something doesn't add up.

I see alcohol and alcoholism as a much larger problem then pot. Drunk driving, Spousal abuse and alcohol poisoning are problems in Canada (I don't want to say big for fear of hearing Anti-Western bullcrap) whereas there are almost no societal problems associated with marijuana. Driving while stoned is dangerous, but nowhere near as dangerous as driving drunk, people rarely become violent off of marijuana and you can't overdose.

Although officially we are taught that marijuana is an illegal drug, most Canadian kids are raised to think of it on the same level as alcohol. Both parents and teachers are pretty open and frank about the effects of taking it, and it's generally assumed that everyone has tried it or will.

I've had friends who've misused it and turned into total potheads, and I have friends that are complete alcoholics. But I also know more people who consume both alcohol and marijuana responsibly.

Where I am from, people tend to have much bigger problems with pot than alcohol and that is why I am so against it.

There are probably many factors for this that I could not even come close to figuring out. Do you think that because alcohol is legal and its consumption is more moderated in bars and such that it isn't such a problem? Or is it education- we are taught to drink in moderation but just told drugs are bad don't do it?

I'm not really a big fan of alcohol, I've seen to many people get drunk and do something they really wish they didn't- especially girls. For that matter, I hate seeing guys getting girls wasted so they can take advantage of them.

Would legalizing pot really help? In the US it has such a bad stigma, but in Canada it seems so much more accepted-are you taught about it in school other then don't do it, its evil?

The thing is, if consumed responsibly, marijuana is no different then alcohol. It all depends on the person. Some people have addictive personalities.

In Canada it's not a criminal offense to be caught with personal amounts of marijauna. Technically it is a $107 fine (less then a speeding ticket). Most of the time unless you have vast quantities for the purpose of sale cops won't bother you. In fact hash cafes are becoming common in bigger cities for those with a medical marijuana prescription.

I agree with you.Better to legalize and to have it under control as that illegal situation right know and to hunt the consumers like murders.I have smoked it seldom,in the past but i dont judge anyone who does. For me Alcohol is much more dangerous and around me i see dayli what those Alcopops make with the Teens.Thats verry bad.To look at the kids in age 12-16 completely drunk from Beer and Alcopops. From smoking a Joint they will never come in the same bad situation.

Jasskat, alcohol can have a similar effect on some people. To me marijauna is no different then alcohol, in that it's a mild intoxicant that can act as a gateway drug depending on the person who's using it. I think it should be legalized, but restricted in the same ways that alcohol is.

Some people say the pot is harmless, no worse than cigarettes or alcohol.

I have to strongly disagree with this. During college, I witnessed first hand what pot does to people. One of my best friends since I was a little girl started smoking pot and I watched it slowly kill her. She could no longer carry on a conversation because she would forget what was said to her, or forget what she was saying in the middle of a sentence. The more she smoked, the less affect it had on her...so she would increase her intake until it got to the point she was smoking a bad a day and was perma-fried.

I tried to help her, but it didn't work. Her parents tried, her pastor, but nothing was affective. She would its no worse than drinking or cigs. Eventually she flunked out of University and got into a bad car accident while high. She was arrested and it really as the best thing to ever happen to her.

She was forced to be sober( mandatory drug testing) and faced with no future, she went back to University. Her old friends tried to get her to smoke, but she couldn't (because of mandatory drug testing). She graduated, and now is doing well.

Her memory is still horrible, she has no short term memory at all due to the pot. The friends that she would smoke with either dropped out of University or flunked out and all seem to be missing something mentally now and have moved onto much harder drugs since they could no longer get that high from pot.

I think its a horrible drug and have never touched it and never will .

The reason why you get high is because the oxygen supple is cut off from your brain for periods of time. How can this be good for you??

I am not talking about medical marijuana...that is a completely different topic.

Sorry to rant a little, but I have seen what pot does and I cannot stand it when people say it is harmless.

Cannabis legal usage in any European country is always being a social, legal dilemma and a common doing.

The Popular referendum vs The State parliamentary legalization is a super sensitive issue and a strong political motive. It requires lots of information, strict guidelines and social discipline in understanding clearly the Pro's and Con's.

The strong cultural and religious views of each nation are a mix motion and major deciding factor legalizing Cannabis use. Is like legalizing Abortion in a Catholic country.

The legal laws governing the land within their constitutional laws and civil rights will have to be reformatted to meet the legalization among their borders. Ask the Californians how the feel about it.

Example of that is: Amsterdam only vs the rest of the Netherlands.

Only the consumption and usage of cannabis is limited to the red light district. Outside is not legal, exemption of that is only inside your home is allowed to use it. Go ask the restaurant owners and their special menus!

Lately the government has change the law to make it more strict and more cleaner environment, due to their tourist industry is affected and their Image to world of being a druggy society has to change. So much for the poor tulips and wind mills!

They have the liberal and the conservative movement clashing always. Tell that to their young generation is being smoke out slowly.

Yet the consumption of cannabis world wide is a multi billion dollar industry. Cannabis is being around for centuries.

Go ask the South American countries, they know who is the biggest purchaser of cannabis and many other illegal drugs.

It can be a dangerous drug.

My nephew used it quite a lot when he was young and is now a paranoid scitsophrenic.

I'm sure it is connected, but then his friends are ok.

I think all drugs should be legalised and be advertised by boring old farts wearing cardigans on TV.

And sell them in Boots under licence.

Sure there would be difficulties at first but drug associated crime would have nowhere to go.

By that logic I am convinced the prohibition is evil and spineless.
