Looks like the guy took time to figure out if he should do it or not. Doing the same on the 20th floor will give the same result. May his soul rest in peace.

When you have no social security or autarky, you will always feel that you are subjected to your employer or the one you depend on, and therefore your loyalty will be to the one who helps you make a living, which is not the country in this case. This subjection or dependence will without doubt let you feel heart-broken, insecure, and humiliated. This boy might have suffered from employment slavery; in most of the GCC countries you can be fired for trivial pretexts or simply for disagreeing with the boss over a matter of very low concern or even for refusing to bring a cup of coffee for the fourteen-year old arrogant employer’s son who insolently provokes you to compensate a psychological stress. We have a new generation of slaves who, instead of working for accommodation and food the way slaves used to do in days of yore, they work for much less, which is a good reason to believe that slavery will go on irrespective of our belief that God is the Ever Provider.

I am sure, this could be a cold blooded murder..... jumping from such a great height is not an easy way of commiting sucide unless he had any major point to prove... in this case, i dont see any..... May the guilty be punished...

Everytime somebody falls off a building out there they say its suicide and its regularly in the local papers out there as a sucide. Must be a very good and quick way to close an investigation.

Jumping from 124th floor would have done the job as well.

He really did try hard to commit suicide.

Crawling the a/c duct or climbing all those stairs to take off from the 147th floor.

India has the dubious record of its citizen being the first to commit suicide from Burj Dubai

LincolnPirate, already happened here in january in a tower block in westbay- perhaps Dubai copying Doha for a change. Although some say it may not have been suicide??

did it solve his problem?

By anonymous• 11 May 2011 09:51

The weird thing is that there was no way for him to get to the 147th floor without a pass, as the highest anyone without authorization can go is the 124th. So either he crawled up 20 odd flights of stairs through the air conditioner or he worked for the Burj Khalifa. (I'm going with the latter).

with this death and the one involving the briton (although in prison), it will not surprise me anymore if people will start seeing/ feeling creepy about this tower.

@ lp, you got it right. i always think that the sole ambition of Doha is to either copy or surpass the achievements of Dubai.:-)

Well if one wants to make sure about getting it right the first time...there's no better building to do it from eh?...

when I read it first, I thought it would be an Indian - and an Indian it was. Most probably a Mallu to boot as well.

most of the construction workers have depression & hypertension. A 2006 study by the Australian Institute for Suicide and Prevention found that Queensland Commercial Building Construction Industry employees aged 15 to 24 had a suicide rate of 58.6 deaths per 100,000. Dunn no how much abt Middle -East.

Now that the first one has happened, there will be a series of copycat events.

Stay away from this building for a while 'cos it will be 'raining men' as the song goes.

Waiting for this to happen in Qatar. Don't they copy everything from Dubai here?

By anonymous• 11 May 2011 09:06
anonymous

Yup. Crawled through an air conditioning vent on the 147th floor, because his employer wouldn't give him a holiday.

I heard this last night on the radio and thought it was pretty funny when the broadcaster said "Paramedics were unable to resuscitate him" Ummmm yyeeeaaaahhh, was there even anything left to resuscitate?
