Man charged with sex crimes against child in Qatar
A Canadian man has been charged with sex offences involving a child that were alleged to have taken place in Doha while he was working here.
Bradley Raymond Chanin made his first appearance on Friday morning in Saskatoon Provincial Court on charges of sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching and making child pornography.
He was remanded in custody.
A publication ban protects the identity of the alleged victim, who was under age 12.
She is said to be “school-aged” — police will not say exactly how old she is — but have indicated there was some sort of unspecified “relationship” between the girl, who now resides in Thailand.
It’s alleged the offences occurred between 2006 and 2009.
“Evidence that we found during the course of the first (investigation) that we did back in December 2012 led us to this other investigation, which led us to these additional charges,” Staff Sgt. Ron Weir, provincial coordinator with the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE), said Friday.
Asked about the cost of the investigation, Weir said, “You just can’t put any kind of a price tag on the safety of our children,” he said.
“We just wanted to make sure that the victim was taken care of and that the (alleged) offender is brought in front of the courts.”
He said the girl is in a safe situation. “She’s doing fine. And the family’s doing fine.”

Good One
It is the duty of the parents to take care of there kids from these kind of perverts . they would be in the disguise of a neighbours, relations like uncles cousins and good friends so avoid them leaving alone at any situation...........
poor guy
can't manage himself
And good to know the victim is being taken care of as well. But this is yet another stark reminder that such pervs are lurking around under various guises. The fact that there was actually some kind of relationship between the offender and victim is also disturbing. However did he manage that for so long without the raising alarm bells of those around her?
In any case Weir's words says it all :"You just can’t put any kind of a price tag on the safety of our children”
Great work by the Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE).
It would be better for him to be tried in Qatar, but I doubt whether the child would have got the proper protection and anonymity
