practice restraint. I did not everything is bad as some tries to portray me to be.

Just like bhert said, a nude can be acceptable to some and not to some, depends on the presentation if the group of pictures is in art's form. But if you group it to a bunch of pictures with no title itself, it will be unacceptable.

This is the case here, posting pictures without even an explanation what it is. If he said, funny pictures or "best and worse" shots or "funny candid shots", then it will never be offensive.

But an open forum like this and you just post something like that (not all again, some try to make it appear all negatives) without a caption, well it's my view. If you are entitled to your view, I am also. And again, this is Qatar, one need to know the limitation and that limitation is not definite here. So again, practice restraint or be cautious.

thanks.. im a self proclaimed artist.. i find art in these groups of people,

a nude picture can be offensive to others while some might find it interesting, artistic, one way or another.

it all boils down on how we see things,

again thanks for all of your cnc's, i appreciate it, 'til the next manila shoot..

cheers! enjoy and keep it coming.. :)

i had my pictures taken like that by friends sometimes. and i found them funny too. they may have been done in bad taste but that's different from being offensive.

i also think it's offensive for you to use karma just because you take things too seriously and we don't share the same sense of humor. and why is it ok for filmmakers when they make money out of it and it's wrong when bhert's posting them for free? why the double standard? sorry tatang but i don't get your logic sometimes.

I am very particular about some pictures. I even praised the OP. But if that picture is you (I mean the sleeping lady), I will still feel the same, offended even if I don't know you!

And may I remind you TINAPAY, this is Qatar, not Philippines!

Wirehead, I don't find it hilarious, it's offensive. Hope no relative of yours be pictured that way!

If the pics were meant for a movie or a documentary then it's fine. But just posting it in this kind of forum, I said practice restraint, protect the dignity of people as shown in the pictures. Karma!

i don't see anything wrong with the pictures, some of them are not very good though. the sleeping lady is hilarious. the lady in blue too :D yes, they're not the prettiest places in manila but they do have a lot of character. indie filmmakers love to make money and get famous from shooting videos of poverty and urban decay, why can't he?

kudos to bhert for doing a photoshoot in quiapo and surviving to actually post pictures. it's a very interesting place to take pictures in but risky. i myself wouldn't dare do it lest i come home without my camera.

btw, i think some moron decided to ban taking pics of the rizal monument in luneta recently. so he can't go there even if he wanted to.

is a close relative of yours and exposed as such, will you be happy?

Now if that is posted in you FB with the intent as a "joke" to your friends, MAYBE, it's acceptable. But QL is a big forum with wide exposure. I hate to say it, but that two pictures (sleeping lady and beggar), I find it offensive now! IMHO!

Some shots are nice, some are not! (blurry, and angle is not proportion, well only in my eyes!)

I have to agree with you on this one Flor! This is worth posting in Filexpat than the main forum. Manila is a good place, and exposing your country or your people to ridicule is not "makabayan" (patriotic) at all. I wonder why I didnt see any photos of Intramuros nor Luneta Park where "home" is famous for!

Sad to say that you didn't capture the beauty of your subject!

we see it also differently. Our comments are not offensive as written. We just remind the Op to exercise restraint. If to others showing someone sleeping in a chair (exposing her to ridicule) then it's not fine with us. Showing a beggar on the street is not ok with us. So we say to the OP, unless the purpose is to raise awareness, some of the pictures are not worth posting.

We already praised the talent but there is a responsibility that goes with it.

If filipinos who say they don't know these places, its either they weren't born in MANILA or never been there, and never had the chance to go to Manila.

And when I say MANILA...I mean the old and historic MANILA.

Not Tondo, not Caloocan, Mandaluyong or whatever part of the GREATER MANILA AREA you were born and raised.

I was born in MANILA and I grew up and spent my childhood in that AREA. From 1976 to 2005, I've seen how the area changed.

These photos are called still-life...its the "real" scenario which foreigners and tourists see in MANILA. Photos of these types are the ones that gets bought and praised by other people in other parts of the planet.

What you want people to know about our country? the malls? the nighlife, the tourist spots?

What is issue of embarrassment of this photos? What negative aspects does the photos depicted hereon?

The OP is a photographer...and he's good at it. Instead of congratulating the person for his skills in capturing great shots, people would rather see the BAD SIDES and instill "negativity". And we filipinos say we love our own...yet we cant seem to give support to a pinoy's effort and love of his craft?

REALLY????

Ok...Posting it on FILEXPAT group is also a good idea but wont reach a greater audience like in the QL main forum.

QLERS will post good and bad about it...so what??

THIS is my opinion of the matter...DON'T LIKE IT BITE ME!!

That's why I suggested this to be posted in filexpat. IMHO this is not even worth sharing. There are filipinos who are from other parts of the philippines and won't even appreciate such pictures because they're not familiar with the place. Of course non-filipinos won't appreciate this even more. I think you, the OP, is the type of filipino who is proud to say "it's more fun in the philippines". Sucks to know of such blind flips. :(

Precisely I said in another thread, exercise restraints in posting pictures here. Remember, this is not Philippines, this is Qatar.

If these pictures were taken and posted by a non-Pinoy, I would understand, but a fellow Filipino, what's the benefit? To show the talent? To help promote what? Better to concentrate on the positive unless he is doing a corresponding story.

To Bhert, true, reality bites, but do you need to highlight it?
