5.500 US means around 20.000 QR ...

I have lost touch about housing cost nowadays ... but you have to get ready to fork out around QR 7000 for a flat at least (probably more).

Also consider if you have any mortgage to pay in your home country ... QR is peg to the US dollar. So if you are from UK consider the exchange rate too. 6 yrs ago it was 5 riyal to the pound, now over 7 riyal to the UK poundsterling.

Petrol cost next to nothing compare to europe ... but you have to consider the transport cost too. Dont reply on the public transportation in Doha. It is totally crap... :-)

My suggestion ... you should push for housing from your employer ... It is the biggest cost for living in Doha.

Anything else you like to know just shout away

Take care and good luck ....

Look, you'll pay something like $1200-$1500 for rent (1br), you'll need a car so factor in another $250, $750-$1000 for food.

But they have to give you an annual ticket. It's the law. Make sure you get a contract and study it well.

Magdalena, if you can get $5500-$6000/month then the offer is worth it.

This is provided your employer gives you an adequate housing allowance. Check the forum for all the housing cost threads. It's not cheap. You have to take into account medical insurance, transportation, vacation time, annual airfare and education costs if you have kids.

Doha's fashion design scene is not exactly Paris or Milan haute couture so be careful who you're in business with.
