Low flying Land Cruiser

Why do nationals drive like mentalists?? It is some sort of psychological deficiency?? Due to other socialogical impediments and deficiencies, are the roads the only way they can impose themselves on the rest of us?? Is it Freudian, big car, small.........?? Did losing a high profile Minister of State a few weeks ago in a hideous collision mean nothing??

Yes, thats right, I had a run in this morning on the road to hell (Measaieed) with a "driver" who one assumes from his behaviour nestles in comfortably just above pond life in the food chain.

Still, what ya gonna do!!!!

Crazy landcruiser drivers are only irritating . Drivers who have license but no experience is worst .

When we started the project , we hired drivers from a well known company . None of them knew how to drive , I swear . Every week we had at least 3 accidents , and every day we had to face that terror until we got our residence permit . Every roundabout was like a horror scene and every signal , they were pushing breake crazily to reduce the speed 45-50 .And they were always travelling at least 30 kmh less than speed limit ( on fast lane !!) .

I understand them , because the fines are very high comparing with their salary . But I still don't understand how they can get the license too easily .

I do accept that when you live in a "pot pouri" of a community with different nationalities using the roads - all bringing with them the road traffic "nouce" that they have used in their own country, then yes, you are going to witness differing standards of adherence to the "rule of the road" which Boris terms "common sense". Unfortunately as he says, common sense on the roads of Qatar aint all that common. Having driven here for 2 years now I guess I am still a novice but the things missing IMHO are common courtesy and general road sense - again IMHO we are all guilty of this on occasion - even I was guilty this morning of lack of courtesy when I dipped my mirror and refused to be intimated by the monkey in back of me. BUT over and above ALL of the above, some nationals - male or female - take poor driving to a whole new level - a level that makes NO distinction between reckless/callous and safe. They clearly are no respectors of life either their own or other road users and I am including pedestrians in that - but that takes us back to Gadarene's initial thread and forward to the whole way nationals view their existence on earth anyway and Im not going there!!!! Well, not today anyway.

Eventhough i am Qatari , i get very irratated when i see those type of drivers . The main reason is that when they reach 18 years old Their pearnts buy them a car , coz they didnt work hard to get that car nor they didnt pay a penny to own it , they will drive with no caution what so ever. BAsically they are just spoilt . What makes me more furious is that when they get severly injured and cancel the car they will buy them another one . You shouldnt blame them , you should blame their pearnts for spoiling them . For my self i will let my children work hard and earn their own money , i will only give them money when i feel they are mature enough and will spend it in the right way .

if you start from wakra to messaied at morning 6.25 you can have highbeam light flickering continously besides you from local lady LC owner when you are at 120 KM speed.even if you raise your speed she will not slow down she will just near your tail lamp. some LC locals are taking Emergency lane always but one thing they will hit the police car one day since morning police patrol cars are standing at this emergency lane.

Boris, using that logic, is it then OK to overtake to the right?

Bull Shit.

All the lanes have the same speed limt applied. Its just common sense to use lanes properly. Which there seems to be FA of here

@ baldrick2dogs & britexpat...now the tiida/lancer/etc. crawling along we could go on about for days on end couldn't we?...my issue is a bit different, courtesy of the psychotic landcruiser locals,i stay in/use the fast lane only when required, else i'm the guy doing bet. 95-100 on a 100 limit road in the middle lane...enter said tiida/lancer/overloaded pickup/small truck/etc. crawling @ 60 in the middle lane...with the slow lane wide open & refusing to move over to the slow lane & having the audacity to glare @ me when i have to get onto 'maniac lane' to overtake them...WTF???...how hard can this to be understand?...FAST,NOT SO FAST,SLOW...to all those that fall in the above mentioned category, you know who you are,it's MY RIGHT OF WAY if you're under the speed limit & hogging the middle lane,BY LAW,you have to move over & let me pass & STAY IN THE SLOW LANE if you want to crawl,DO NOT hog the middle & fast lane...it's AGAINST THE LAW...comprehende?...

Got to agree with you. i have more issues with Tiida and Lancer drivers :)

Chairboy: It's happened to us all and will probably do so again and again. The best option is to have the seat cleaned , look on the bright side that you're alive and drive on..

I'll go the opposite way ... what is it with [insert nationality here] driving frickin Tiida's in the outside lane doing 30kph under the limit.

It takes all sorts to feck up traffic.

@ chairboy...i hear you mate,in fact i'm sure everyone one here does...point is,these guys don't really have much of a life outside of this 'drive fast live dangerous" mentality that most of us grew out of by the end of our teens,or a couple of years after we got our driving lisences, after which we moved on to the more important/more fun things life has to offer...unfortunately for these guys, there isn't much more life has to offer beyond that speeding landcruiser,so most of 'em are stuck in juvenile mode for a good few years after...i actually feel sorry for these guys as i move over & let them pass 'cos they don't have much to look forward to in terms of their destination,at least make the ride fun/life threatening is,i figure, how they see it...& yes,big car, small .... i'm pretty sure has a large part to play in it,we are after all human first & foremost eh?...*wink*!! have a good one!...

I think it's not only the Qatar locals who drives like crazy but most of those crazy drivers are from other GCC countries.
