@ gypsy,Doha is definitely caught in a time warp,in some cases even earlier than the late 90's, however,that has nothing to do with house in the 90's...house music was big(as opposed to cool) in the mid-late 90's 'cos that's when it exploded onto the world scene from being underground warehouse parties in detroit to superclubs like the ministry of sound & gatecrasher in the UK & Pasha among others in Ibiza,it's now established as a genre with sub-genres having evolved from it,progressive house that this thread is referring to, being one of them,it's still very much around & wasn't a passing phase as you seem to think & like with every genre,there's good & bad & what you hear in doha is usually the crap,the progressive subgenre is quite nice but like i said,this town hasn't evolved it to yet...

@ adityapunja,look out for the global dj's events,they usually have something once a month,just not right now 'cos of summer but after ramadan,things should kick off again & it's not an underground/private gig,you'll hear about it for sure...until then,your cd collection will have to keep you going mate...:)

I was wondering if you got to bahrain there are clubs which play house quite often n they are good.

UAE for sure in general has more house music lovers ...

But here none....

Well i guess eventually it will catch up....

probably there would be private parties n stuff ... where they play...

Sadly it's all they play. Doha seems to be caught in the late 90's when house was "cool"

And if your able to get in enjoy your drink and if u get drunk dance to the music else get out from there .....

In clubs, there would be the RnB and pop...nothing else.

yes you will have to pay.

Girl as companion I guess no prob.

If you go alone maybe the "entrance" will be really difficult not to say almost impossible.

adityapunja, stop looking for progressive house music and instead look for your lost patience somewhere here in doha.

high temper and loosing your patience can make your life here in QL shorter....goodluck

@ adityapunja,i feel for you mate,i really do,my deepest sympathies to you,as is clearly evident by the answers,esp. abc150(who was being honest) & shanawazt(who was just being stupid),Doha/Qatar is still a loooooooooong way from the real world mate,so the few so called 'clubs' in this town play mostly crap as in r'n'b,hiphop,cheesy pop,bollywood crap etc...hate to be the bearer of bad news but electronic scene is non-existant except for this bunch of guys who call themselves global DJ's(how original) who organize gigs @ the diplomatic club but that's usually more clubby,handbag house kind of stuff,this town hasn't evolved to proggy yet...

you need to check out Orion at Ramada and Irish Harp at Sheraton.These are the only two decent places left in town.
