Losing the Eid pounds!
We've all been there, Muslim or not, Eid is not easy on the scale.
All the restaurants offer delicious "Eid" meals, friends and family visit, desserts are EVERYWHERE. But, never fear, the weather is now on our side and there are a few tricks to help you stay in your pant size.
First, take a bite from the desserts. We got it, you're weak, so are we, so just take a couple of spoon fulls and move on. Honestly, after awhile it all tastes like sure. 2-3 bites than MOVE-ON.
Face it, desserts are your enemy. They are small, unfilling, and pack more calories than a hearty meal. (I know it hurts, trust me, I do).
Next, go for a walk. The weather is finally amazing. Finally. Walking regularly decreases blood pressure, gets your circulation going and helps you destress. Destressing, helps prevent stress eating. Walking is just a great recipe for anyone of any fitness level to slowly try and become healthy. You'll feel refreshed and happy. Get some good running shoes and we'll see you at Aspire, or the Corniche, or the many many public tracks!
Try going no carb/starch for the holidays. That will leave you with meat, salad, and vegetables. You'll most certainly feel great and it knocks out all the high calories options that slowly kill us. Honestly, this diet is challenging, but you'll feel energized. Find a friend and try to do it for the week - you may never go back to starch...
For the love of all things practical - just hit the gym. No one binges on cake after a great workout. It will motivate you, invigorate you, and by proxy of working out.. you just stay away from junk food.
Also, maybe this is the time you sign up with a personal trainor, register in lessons, take up kick boxing, something that has you accountable to someone else.
Regardless, here's hoping some of these tips help and you begin the healthiest journey of your life.
Cheers,
