phone - QR 200 connection, QR33 pm
Broadband -200 - 400pm
Taxi's - Impossible to get (Search Karwa on this site) but relatively safe if they are the official ones
TV - lots of Arabic not surprising - but we have a English speaking package plus lots of free Italian channels - but there are more to choose from.
Appliances can be cheap - but all come with 2 pin plugs so you will need a lot of adapters to fit the UK power sockets - but these are about QR3 each. The cost of the appliances differ depending on quality and shop. Carrefour has supplied most of ours and their service is pretty good.
Most of all bring a lot of patience and be prepared to be pushy. Learn some basic arabic greetings. This helps a lot.
Any idea of which part of Doha you will be living in??
