What is the new law regarding late car registration? A friend of us just being fines QR 1500 for 5 weeks late car registration. As far as i know i thought you allow 1 mths grace period. Now i am on panick mode again because we have 2 cars and it would cost us a fortune if we paying fines for 2 car :-(

Thanks !!!

we did our 2 cars for registration. Without fines, both cars about 7 days late. I asked around they said the fines incurred 1 months after expiry date on the registration card.

a bit of advise, if you lady/female, you dont have to queue doing the registration. Just go straight to the counter and they will serve you.

check this there is passing mention here

Al Khulaifi said there had been a heavy rush at the Traffic and Patrol Department to renew vehicle registrations immediately before the law came into being. Driving a vehicle with expired registration can mean a fine of QR1,500 under the terms of the new law. "In the run-up to the law being introduced, there were 3,000 registration renewals and 500 licence renewals," said Al Khulaifi.
