LAHORE UNDER SIEGE!!!

By Arien

LAHORE: Terrorists struck Lahore in a big way on Thursday, storming Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency building and attacking two police
training centres in synchronised attacks, triggering fierce exchanges of fire with police that left at least 11 dead and several injured.

Three separate groups of terrorists carried out the attacks a little after 9.15 am, police said.

The terrorists exchanged heavy gunfire with police at the FIA office on Temple Road, the Elite Force police training centre at Bedian Road near the airport and the police training centre at Manawan on the outskirts of Lahore.

Almost two hours after the FIA office was assaulted by the terrorists, Lahore police commissioner Khusro Pervez said the building had been cleared. He said seven persons, including three FIA personnel and an attacker, were killed and three others injured in the incident.

"The building has been cleared and we are searching the surrounding areas," Pervez told reporters.

One terrorist killed at the FIA office had a suicide jacket, he added.

The terrorists who assaulted the police training centres at Bedian Road and Manawan lobbed several grenades and traded fire with policemen and paramilitary Pakistan Rangers troops that surrounded the facilities.

Reports said several police recruits had been taken hostage at the Manawan centre.

"The enemy has started a guerrilla war," Pakistan's interior minister Rehman Malik told a local television station.

i say put a gun in the hands of every man woman and child and let us all just sort out our matters ourselves. kill or be killed should be the way out. Only the strongest will survive. Why live in a world where fear grips you at corner, every train you catch, every plane you fly? What are we fighting for? Who are we fighting for? Fighting in the name of peace, in the name of God, for religion, for country? What a F'ing JOKE. People are a joke, ignorant pricks rule the countries for years on end, and the rest of us think we are helpless and bow to such suffering, accept the shit that fills our daily news papers, flip channels after seeing thousands of people killed everyday coz its not in your country, its not your relative so why bother?

This world has gone to the dogs and if i were to believe any holy book, I PRAY that the end of days come sooner. Time to be Judged. If there is a God its time for some punishment. If there isn't.........well then either way everyone's F'ed!

Nothing do happen without any reason. these all things are happening just for some countries political needs.

There are countries who are providing weapons/funds to the organization so called Taliban or Al Qaeda to fight. otherwise no one can fight like this for the past 8 years and becoming more stronger and stronger day by day.

Dont u ppl think there are some others working out besides Taliban or Al Qaeda just using their names. All the Governments in all over the world knows what is going on exactly but everybody is afraid to go against the super power.

this will end off course but how & when? there are 2 answers.

1- when the muslims from all over the world are destabilized and work under the Control of West. In this case except some countries (like Pakistan, Iran and Saudi Arabia) all muslims countries are working under the 100% control of West. you can see in your surroundings.

2- Secondly, all muslims should become modern muslims and forget the teachings of Islam which was taught 1400 years ago and follow the new teachings by newly developed muslims scholars which is called fitna. These fitnas are so far called DAJJAL.

this is not the time to fight with each other by saying pakistani or indians or else, this is the time we all muslims should be united, work together, think together, fight together otherwise it will become too late.

We can't blame India and they can't blame us for anything. We both have done equal harm to each other .... none of them is innocent. But terrorism today is something beyond nationalities .... and to some extent it is our fault .. we shouldn't have helped US in the first place in training these people who were used against Russia in Soviet–Afghan War. It all started from there.

Taliban Claims responsibility Duh!!!!

LAHORE: The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the simultaneous terror attacks on three security establishments in this Pakistani city on

Thursday.

The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the multiple attacks in Lahore, The News International reported.

Militants dressed in uniform stormed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the Manawan police training school, close to the India-Pakistan border, and the training centre of the Elite Force.

There was heavy exchange of fire in all three buildings that came under siege. Loud blasts and gunshots could be heard, eyewitnesses said.

Commissioner of police, Lahore, Khusro Pervez, said that it was a "multi-directional attack".

LAHORE, Pakistan

Teams of gunmen attacked three security sites Thursday in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore while a suicide bomber hit a northwestern town, killing a total of 26 people in an escalating a wave of terror aimed at scuttling a planned offensive into the militants' heartland on the Afghan border.

The assaults paralyzed one of the nation's most vibrant cities and showed the militants are highly organized and able to carry out sophisticated, coordinated strikes against heavily fortified facilities, despite stepped up security across the country.

President Asif Ali Zardari said the bloodshed that has engulfed the nation over the past 11 days would not deter the government from its mission to eliminate the violent extremists, according to a statement on the state-run news agency.

"The enemy has started a guerrilla war," Interior Minister Rehman Malik said. "The whole nation should be united against these handful of terrorists, and God willing we will defeat them."

The violence in Lahore began just after 9 a.m. when a group of gunmen attacked a building housing the Federal Investigation Agency, a law enforcement branch that deals with matters ranging from immigration to terrorism.

"We are under attack," said Mohammad Riaz, an FIA employee reached inside the building via phone by The Associated Press during the assault. "I can see two people hit, but I do not know who they are."

The attack lasted about 1 1/2 hours and ended with the death of two attackers, four government employees and a bystander, senior government official Sajjad Bhutta said. Senior police official Chaudhry Shafiq said one of the dead wore a jacket bearing explosives.

Soon after that assault began, a second band of gunman raided a police training school in Manawan on the outskirts of the city in a brief attack that killed six police officers and four militants, Lahore police chief Pervez Rathore said. One of the gunmen was killed by police at the compound and the other three blew themselves up.

The facility was hit earlier this year in an attack that sparked an eight-hour standoff with the army that left 12 people dead.

A third team of at least eight gunmen scaled the back wall of an elite police commando training center not far from the airport and attacked the facility, Rathore said. Senior police official Malik Iqbal said at least one police constable was killed there.

Television footage showed helicopters in the air over one of the police facilities and paramilitary forces with rifles and bulletproof vests taking cover behind trees outside a wall surrounding the compound. Rana Sanaullah, provincial law minister of Punjab province, said police were trying to take some of the attackers alive so they could get information from them about their militant networks.

The wave of violence paralyzed the city. All government offices were ordered shut, the roads were nearly empty, major markets did not open and stores that had been open pulled down their shutters.

In the Taliban-riddled northwest, meanwhile, a suicide car bomb exploded next to a police station in the Saddar area of Kohat, collapsing half the building and killing eight people, including police and civilians, police official Afzal Khan said.

"We fear that some policemen are trapped under the rubble," he said.

The U.S. has encouraged Pakistan to take strong action against insurgents who are using its soil as a base for attacks in Afghanistan, where U.S. troops are bogged down in an increasingly difficult war. It has carried out a slew of its own missile strikes in Pakistan's lawless tribal belt over the past year, killing several top militants including Pakistani Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud.

One suspected U.S. missile strike killed four people overnight Thursday when it hit a compound in an area in North Waziristan tribal region where members of the militant network led by Jalaluddin Haqqani are believed to operate, two intelligence officials said. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

Pakistan formally protests the missile strikes as violations of its sovereignty, but many analysts believe it has a secret deal with the U.S. allowing them.

The militants have claimed credit for a wave of attacks that began with an Oct. 5 strike on the U.N. food agency in Islamabad and included a siege of the army's headquarters in the garrison city of Rawalpindi that left 23 people dead.

The Taliban have warned Pakistan to stop pursuing them in military operations.

The Pakistani army has given no time frame for its expected offensive in South Waziristan tribal region, but has reportedly already sent two divisions totaling 28,000 men and blockaded the area.

Fearing the looming offensive, about 200,000 people have fled South Waziristan since August, moving in with relatives or renting homes in the Tank and Dera Ismail Khan areas, a local government official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media.

every country has issues of its own which it is obliged to solve on its own.but terrorism is one issue that does not belong to or affect just one country and its people alone...it's a worldwide problem and just has to be burnt at the very roots.....so there's no point in pointing out the problems faced by another country in the face of serious problems happening at the moment.a little maturity in general attittude can go a long way!
