I was informed that the labor department refused to stamp my work contract because my diploma needs to be stamped by the secretary of state. Now the American Embassy doesn't do the stamping meaning I have to send it to DC and then from DC it has to be sent to the Qatar embassy in DC for a second stamp, before the labor department here stamps my contract. meanwhile my visa is expired and my company is paying penalty as we speak. any advice regarding this does anyone if they will give extention periods or some kind of waiver until I can get my diploma vertified?much thanks

As I said above, send it to an expediter. They will walk it through the process in DC from the Dep't of State and the Qatar Embassy and then Fedex it back to you in as quick a time as possible. Faster, even, than your trying to do it yourself. Do a visa run until then. There are waivers but they sure don't like to grant them and probably not under these circumstances when it can be done.

Does anyone know that the Qatar immigration would accept the attested documents by DC and UAE. I had them done when working in Dubai. Thanks.

Agree with Gruetzi ,

also if you get Business Visa as Azamat said ...will it be easy to transfer from work visa to another visa then again transfer ! rather than renewing it only...don't wast time , send your certificate to be stamped , and go have vacation in Dubai or Bahrain ,

anyway you aware more than anyone about your situation

Best Regards & Wishes

It's actually more complicated than that.

First you need to have it authenticated locally in your state, then it goes to your state's Department of State, only then can you get it stamped by the US Department of State in DC. Then you can send it to the Qatari consulate in DC. If you've got no one stateside to help you out, this can take some time, months.

Don't overstay your visa, even if the company is paying the fine. Just fly out to Dubai or Bahrain for a week-end and come back in again. Costs QAR 10 for US nationals to get a visa at the border and avoids all the mess with overstaying visas. Don't forget, your company may be paying the fines, but you will be held responsible for overstaying your visa.

Your company can get you a 1+3 month business visa in the meantime. You will need to exit and enter Qatar though.
