Abu Dhabi: A four-year-old pupil died after he was allegedly left locked in his kindergarten van on Thursday.
Aathish, a KG grade 1 pupil of Merry Land kindergarten on Muroor Road in Abu Dhabi, boarded the van on Thursday morning and a phone call from the school at 12.50pm said he had met with an accident, his father told Gulf News.
"When my wife, father and friends reached Shaikh Khalifa Medical City, the doctors said the child was dead," said Shebin Sreedher who works at Jebel Ali in Dubai and hails from the southern Indian state of Kerala.
"He was my only son," he said. Dhanya, the boy's mother, works for Etihad Airways.
"A hospital report said the cause of the death was unknown, but we came to know from
officials that he suffocated," said Shebin.

Speed Comments: Heart breaking story .... Our sympahty goes to the family he was their only Son !! They were getting ready to celebrate his 5th birthday on 2nd May 2008.
This news reminded me of my son who is 4yrs old, last month he complained to me that on the way back home, the bus driver left him in the bus alone and went somewhere and he was feeling sacred in the bus. It did not give much notice to my son and just calm him down saying that he might have gone for few mins. for something urgent !!
But now I will be serious, anything worst can happen due to our negligance ... we should listen to our children and act immedately !
Please Takacare of Your Children ... They are very sensitive just like flowers.
Heartbreaking ...................incident......
so sad
this is so sad. life of an innocent child was taken away by the negligent driver. i feel sorry for the parents.
That's so sad... :(
People should ask their children on a regular basis about their bus rides, just in case something you don't know about is going on.
Its shocking to hear. I too, have a four year-old son. It shouldn't happen to anybody. Very, very sad.
Such old buses should be strictly banned
I cant understand the logic of doing away with the old Taxies yet still keeping
the very very vintage buses plying on the MODERN Doha roads.
I wonder how he can suffocate in a Bus? Its quite large. Even a mini van is
large enough for a kid to survive 24hrs I guess. Only way it could happen is
if the bus's engine is kept running and the bus is parked in a garrage without
any ventilation...then its possible for the boy to suffocate on the exhaust
fumes.
So sad!
My condolences to the family!
Life is beautiful !!!
they have not improved their school buse services ! their service is very poor.... all buses are 1940s model (soap box shape) ... these buses does not belongs to the school ... it's an outsource company .. i don't understand if they are using outsource company why they don't pressuriese those companies to bring new buses ? cost saving v risk of life ?

condolensces to the boys family...I'm shocked, i mean accidents happen but this is pure negligence.....
words fail.
Just call me Tigasin. That's what I'm talking about
Rest in Peace ...
I hope it will not happen again in anywhere
What a shame. My mother works for a school here in Doha and takes the compound buses to school everyday, she's says it's a good thing she does because all of the students who ride with her are under the age of 9 and the bus service sends a new driver almost everyday. The students never know which bus or driver is there's, and the drivers never know who their kids are. Not to mention what's stopping some pedophile from just pulling up to the front of a school with a bus and saying he;s from such and such compound and driving off with the kids.
