keep fit classes/aerobics
I am trying to arrange keep fit classes for ladies which dont have any music. Being a muslim, it is not permissable to listen to music. Therefore, I am trying to arrange classes without music.
I have raised this issue at Apsire, who are keen to open new classes which are music free. However, I dont know when this would be.
I have approached other fitness centres who have affirmed that they can offer me aerobics etc classes without the music.
However, they will only run these classes if I can present them with enough numbers of ladies who are willing to join and participate. At the moment, the numbers are very limited, we just need a minimum of 7-10 to start the class. If we can get this number, then we can start the class straight away - please note: pricing hasnt been discussed yet. We are just trying to establish demand yet.
If you are interested, whether for religious reasons or personal preference, please could you let me know. Leaving your name and contact i.e email.
Where does it say that religions have to be attractive?
I find the way you and some others portray Islam to be a big turn off.
jauntie .. its supposed to be attractive by using common sense..
not our uncontrolled animal desires.

Some of the people on QL are making it sound like the most unattractive religion in the world.
ACtually noddy is right! The majority of well known scholars since Islam was complete have declared musical instruments haram
BASED ON ISLAMIC FACTS!
I do not know the facts well enough to say whether it is or isn't in Islam.
And just because alot of muslims do so does not make it halal. As the people on this website are the first to point out that the majority of muslims in Qatar do not practice the religion.
Also we can sing songs and play something called the duff in islam. And we also have alot of awesome non instrumental nasheeds.
Noddy have you thought of getting some duff arab tapes to exercise with? I am sure you can find some. I don't live in doha at the moment.. but if I come InshAllah I would love to join the class with you.
Take care sister Asalaamu Alaikum rahmantullah

Kindly be humble and save our time by telling us where exactly is ti mentioned about music being Haram. Do you mean that our ears will be chopped for that crime?
And your profile shows you are male. You are inviting females. Is this "Islami dating"?

It is mentioned in alot of places that music is impermissable in Islam. You can refer to any Islamic website and type in permissability of music and u will be surprised.
i.e www.islam-qa.com or www.islamway.com or just google it.
its such a shame that we have people out there who dont understand da question. All I asked was if anyone is interested!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not a whole debate about music - if it is right or not.
Seems like most of u have missed da point.
However, I would want to clarify - that music is DEFINATELY not permissable in Islam, there are many proofs for this. Ill leave it to you to do ur own research.
Also, the fact that ur Muslim friends are dancing away in clubs etc, does not mean that music is allowed. This is a simple example of lack of understanding.
Just like any other religion, you get people who practise the faith and those who are not interested. Thats how it works with all faiths!
so, I take it no one out there to join!
Thanks guys for asking the similar question.
I was actually very confused by what Noddy mean by saying 'Being a muslim, it is not permissable to listen to music'. But seems like there is no answer to the question!
I'm outta here for the weekend....have a good one everyone.
Stay safe my friends.
Perfection does not exist. The question therefore, is: what level of imperfection are we willing to settle for?
one of those "religion teaching and advising" programs

A drum opened on one side is Halal. Closed on both sides is illegal (Haram). I swear I did hear that

That muslims aren't allowed to listen to music? Can you please quote the verse in the Quran that says so?
Stay safe.

put religions view only when it is needed to quote.
Dealing with Arabic music from every single Arabic country on earth......why would you think its not allowed?
Stay safe.

Even Arabic music is also not allowed as per the religion? Believe me the prayer calls from mask sounds like pleasent music to my ears. I heard the calls in India, but the voice of people out here is much smooth at high pitch. I am surprised to know it is not acceptable in your religion. Good to know a point. Sorry to hijak the thread..
keep fit without the music
