They usually call her "the actress in a man's suit".
One of the actresses I admire, Katharine Hepburn's "male" persona has a very vital career in the history of American cinema.
Just opened up my movie archives lately and reminded me how I very much liked her 'antagonisms' with Peter O'Toole in the 1968 movie The Lion In Winter. The script is too fierce and the actors who played in the 'family kingdom' were all too magnanimous.
It was a funny thing that the only movie I remember her wearing a dress was that 1933 version of Little Women (probably the oldest movie I've seen with her in the cast). She plays the eldest daughter with a strong posture.
I also remember where she played with Cary Grant on the then 1938 early slapstick comedy Bringing Up Baby where they've kept a leopard as a baby but Cary Grant was surprised to see it.
I also remember the movie were she starred with Humprey Bogart on that movie The African Queen where the title is all about a boat owned by Bogey and a social-type lady gets the dirt. Well it's a rare Bogey-Kate combo and still was a nice movie.
I also found a my video of The Philadelphia Story along the archives. If I remember correctly it's about who gets to have Kate: Cary Grant or James Stewart?
God I miss those days where I usually watch classic cinema with my grandma and I'd like to say Kate has been part of the selections of movie actresses I admire and recommend.
