Karwa

Hi all,

I have surprising experience just now from Karwa taxi. I took the taxi to reach to air-port. but the driver was very arrogant. He was driving very fast. He parked his car on passenger walk-way (in airport departure area). I requested him to park ahead. and he arrogantly replied no body has asked. I didn't have change. But he refused to give change. I asked for receipt and he threw receipt on to me.

It's quiet unexpceted.

Do u have same experience?

karwas are touch and go. . . sometimes they're lovely (like the time I forgot a favorite sweater in the car when I returned from the airport, and the driver left it with the security at my building for me), but a lot of the time. . . not so much.

I personally hate when they don't turn the meter on and if you ask, either refuse, or sort of grunt and try to shuffle the recipet paper over so you can't see it's still off. Then, at your destination, they demand like QR50 for what you BOTH KNOW is a QR10 ride. makes me so mad- and they just sit there demanding it! What are you supposed to do? Same goes for change. . .

that's why Karwa Taxi has Telephone Numbers backside on the bumper to call for a ride and probably complaint if you have issues.

...and the chairman and MD of Mowasalat stated that the People are to be blamed for illegal taxis!!!!!! Even though i use karwa's only from the airport to home, i still rather use a private cabby than Karwa. What happened to those orange cabs - i atleast had a friendly chappy who give me a cheap ride and on top of it all tell me that i can give whatever i wanted for the taxi fare. Wow.

Well, you could always challenge him to a pistol dual at high-noon, in front of the old saloon.

Some are quite nice but some other Karwa drivers' attitudes are really nasty. From Najma, one took me to Musherib one morning and he was nagging all through that he has to remit either QR200 or QR250 at submission, and then he felt like developing wings to fly.It was as early as 7.10am that day, upon reaching my destination, the meter read QR8 but he insisted that i must pay QR10, i was almost giving him the amount because of his earlier complain but he was so nasty and like coercing me into paying and so I refused to give him any money until he extended my balance. It was hot i must tell you, but i was firm. Sometimes i think you need some kind of firmness for a corrective purpose and of course with the support of the good governing system we have here in doha. Just let it go guy...
