Just wanna know

I'd just like to know why an oil change (lube, oil, filter) cost me 1300 QR and took 5 and a half hours where Jiffy Lube would cost $25 and take 29 minutes! Same service, including the wash.

we went to Hyundai Garage to change oil lube for our old bangers, they want it for minimum 3 days.

Then we goes to tayseer, only take less than 1 hour.

It didn't took around 2 days.

In Qatar, more days of 'services' passes by, the more the payable amount increases. LOL

5 liters Shell 20 - 50 oil: QR 50, opening the bolt at the oil pan: QR 5, draining the oil, waiting: QR 15, removing the oil filter: QR 5, new oil filter: QR 40 - 100, applying some oil with the finger to the filter seal: QR 2, screwing the filter back in place (by hand): QR 5, fixing the bolt at the oil pan: QR 5, refilling engine oil: QR 15, closing all lids: QR 1, starting the engine and checking for leaks: QR 10 (takes some time). Total; between QR 153 and QR 208. Disposal of used engine oil: QR 1.000. I think you paid most for saving the environment, so, it's good money.

Oh, I have the invoice, the darn oil was almost 600 QR! Labor was 370. No wonder they took 5 and a half hours. Probably charged me mechanics' labor prices for the car wash.

Oh, so do I, Siddh! You should see the looks physicians give me when I ask how much a procedure will be in advance. And the dealer did give me an estimate beforehand for that price. But since I hadn't see a Jiffy Lube ... Hee, hee, Novi, Lamborghini! I feel decadent enough driving an SUV here. I'd never do that in the US.

It all depends on the car and ofcourse the oil used. Some new synthetic oils are very expensive.

Mandi...whether or in Qatar or in US or wherever, I always ask the charge for a service before I get it. At times (here in Canada) I have seen people looking at me in wonder for asking the price of a service, but it's my money & I decide how to spend it.....:)

was it too rude eh?

Yup, Xena, from now on I'm buying the frickin' oil and filters and doing it myself! Used to do it for my Cessna, how hard can a car be?

Charging for their branded services centre. It looks more trust worth and efficient to be serviced at the manufacturers centre deemed to be original.

QR 135 for the parts and my friend did it for free - taking it in to Suzuki would have probably cost the same... so I don't take my car there unless its absolutely neccessary.

They have to take advantage of your money as much as possible as because you earn more than plenty of people around here and you're humble to not ask for a discount. LOL
