Well, I've been in Qatar quite a while, but I haven't heard anybody was charged of JAY WALKING offense. Have you?

...well that's the common 'culture' signboards I see in Doha usually.

...i thought maybe thats the reason why they dont give much attention to jaywalkers, bec. mostly those are expats =)

perhaps locals dont mind on issue of jay walking in this country... they dont provide even a single PEDXING lane along that long stretch of SALWA ... but they're too much meticulous of watching people walking anywhere around... watch to where should you step or else... you'll be fired away...

Guess, they don't know the word "jay walking" in this country. They wouldn't mind at all even if it's green light already, what matters is that you have the "speed" to avoid those 4WD ;)

The OP asked if anyone was charged with jaywalking, not the legality of it. AFAIK nobody in the past 2 years has been charged with jaywalking. Enforcement of traffic rules is a joke here.

Roads in Qatar are not pedestrian friendly and in most cases jaywalking is unavoidable.

I don't understand your comment SS, but using a mobile while driving and jaywalking are both illegal.

Using mobile while driving is strictly adhere as it can cause accident while jaywalking is not... amazed! =)

Jaywalking is illegal here, as is walking along the central reservation. There was something about it in the papers a year or so ago.

Quite how the expect you to cross the roads if jaywalking is illegal is beyond me.

crossing a road here is like signing your own death warrant... lol

No one was charged because they are all dead or seriously injured.
