A housemaid has been arrested on the accusation of attempting to murder her sponsor’s child, a police official said.

Police said that the Emirati family contacted them saying their housemaid had tried to kill their child.

The police source said on Wednesday that investigations revealed that the Asian maid and the sponsor’s wife had been involved in a fight during which they had beaten and bitten each other.

The source said the housemaid claimed that the sponsor’s wife had bitten her for no reason.

The housemaid, who has been detained at Bur Dubai police station, told police she was only defending herself. She became hysterical when police were called to the household and told officers she had never tried to kill the toddler or anybody else

aalsulaiti - Have you read the article.

...People come here to this parts to do an honest job and not to be abused and disrespected and locked up with false accusations... and please remember to have some repect for the countries who are willing to share their manpower and people with you to help make your life a little easier and more manageable. If they are not needed just send them home instead of all this drama to harass them

Dont this maids or other workers have any rights or is it that once they are not needed then stupid and silly accusations are made against them and the authorities seem to be part of the plan to harass this poor workers who are almost living a slave existance out here with no place to run away to. They seem to have put her in jail just on the utterings of her employer. If this is the case then there must be a lot more abused workers locked up with false accusations

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

The problem with employer is that they believed that working with them is a privilege and the workers have no right to be treated well.

Lowly paid workers come to work and be obedient but if they are not treated well, they fight back and I support the helper wholeheartedly.

Do unto other what you do not want others to do unto you.

Another case of the master's word against the servant. Brings shame to the community.

This has simply gone to far. You just have to accuse a employee of any stupid thing and the authorities just put you in jail while the employer must be having a good laugh sitting in a comfortable chair at home. If only the authorities were aware that people here come to do a decent job and all this unfair and wrong accusations can have a very bad and negative impact on the poor and helpless maids and other workers who are out here in a foreign country far away from family and friends

Does this read like a brawl between two human beings?

And it just get's more bizarre. They claim the housemaid tried to kill their child and the maid claims the woman of the house bit her for no reason. I mean BIT her! Was she some starved cannibal or a freak to bite her maid with no provocation? I hope proper investigations are carried out before anyone is officially charged, cos right now the whole case seems freakish!!
