i have only been in doha 4 weeks but i am truly appalled with the local parents who are driving their cars with their young children sitting on their laps,i think that  they are putting their childrens lives at risk and in some countries they would have their children taken of them rightly so.it is a parents responsibilty to keep their children safe from harm and this is clearly not happening .come on guys please use a bit of common sense

If the kids die, the genes of stupid parents will be taken out of the genetic pool of humanity. As a result future human being will be less stupid. It is the survival law.

dont waste your breath.... people who understand the seriousness of this issue never make the mistake...

people who continue to do so and enjoy breaking the rules and who enjoy making a clown of themselves will never learn till its too late....

we all see it day in and day out and we are greatly disturbed....

what cannot be cured has to be endured.....

I have been here 5 years+ and i still cringe on the roads at the lack of concern drivers have for the safety of their children, themselves and others. As Moonbeam says, all we can do is try and look after ourselves by driving alert and defensively using appropriate safety precautions. Nothing much in terms of driver behavior has changed much over the time I have been here, and I dont see it changing much in the future.

This subject has been discussed numerous times on this site. I agree with you.

You know that little yellow sticker "Baby on Board"? Well that seems to have no effect either. Just after I picked up my daughter from school, this rude guy in a landcruiser sped up behind me and literally got to 2cm from my bumper. I almost had a heart attack!

Careless drivers, careless parents and ignorance is everywhere. And any of you that get offended, so be it. Your children rely on YOUR wisdom to keep them safe. If you do not have the means to purchase a car seat (you probably wouldn't be surfing the net....) then I understand. But most people here that allow their kids to hang out the window, or crawl around in the car at will; you have no excuse.

Be pro-active....save your child. You may think you drive safely; but do you honestly trust the way people drive in Qatar?

Derry Boy, I know it frustrates me constantly. But you will have to get used to it here. Just be thankful that you have been given the wisdom to put your child's life first and foremost.

I believe that they feel it's Allah's way if anything should happen.

Same as they don't wear seatbelts themselves. Drive like lunatics and have total disrespect for other road users.

The country is moving forward ... so hopefully one day the penny will drop about safety.
