I have 2006 model car but quite new and i have third party insurance. In just 1 week i had two accidents both the times someone hit me from back while i was waiting at the red light my car was severly damage. None of the i'm at fault, i got police reports.

other party insurance is different QIC and Al Khaleej, anyhow they agreed to repair in one garage, Now the garage called me asking for the 30% cost of the spare parts, i told them its not my fault and i will not pay anything.

Now insurance company is saying that its Qatar Law all 2006 models has to pay 30% of the spare parts. is it true? why should i pay if its not my fault? i'm suffering i don't have car and i have to pay for someone else mistake this is ridiculous. what the hell such law is?

Pls tell ways to repair car without paying anything.
you advice will be appreciate.

now the insurance company is saying that pay 30% of genuine spares parts or otherwise use dublicate part of that they would not charge for.

i don't wanna to use dublicate parts, no one knows when they breakdown.

Is anyone sue insurance company for the correct compensation?

Is it viable if i ask insurance company through a lawyer to compensate me well?

any advice?

Rightly said MxY...its a stupid system..

isurance company should repair their cars with genuine parts with out any extra cost irrespect of the car year because he not at fault, one who is suffering for running here n there around and he need to pay as well for the cause which he had not done.

for others mistake he has to pay... this is ridiculus..

By putting dublicate parts they further depriciate its value and its not safe to drive..

that my insurance premium in the UK Doubles.

As I haven't insured a car in the UK for 2 years my full no claims discount 65% or whatever has been lost.

If I get a No Claims Certificate from my Car Insurer here for which I have to pay, the premium in the UK doubles.

E.G. Without no claims in UK £1000, with No 65% No Claims discount this goes down to £350, however if I use a letter from here to prove I have insured a vehicle continually and have no claims here, then the Price in the UK becomes £2,000. They obviously don't trust the Qatar Insurance deal, when the chance of having an accident here is far greater, so it should be as good if not better than UK no claims.

It's a totally non-sense system.

If A hits B and causes damage. The 30-40% difference for genuine parts should also be compensated by A. You cannot ask B who has zero guilt in the accident to pay for a damaged caused by A.

Sure his parts have depreciated during the years, but because of the accident the car looses serious value. Who is compensating that?

Who has come up with this idiotic system?

Just going on my own insurance

100% when new

90% when a year old

80% at two years Old

70% at three years old

60% at four years old.

Should imagine their is a cut off at some point so it will never go below say 40%, I know I pay a premium to cover the extra in the event of an accident so I don't pay the depreciated value of the parts.

See below from Doha Insurance Company Policy (no not my insurers but their policy is the same), for a 2006 vehicle it would be 40% so they are letting you off lite.

http://www.dicqatar.com/DIC%20POLICY.pdf

As Hawk says, those not genuine parts may cost you nothing because they will probably cost the repairer 40% of the genuine part price and he will still claim new parts although he is only getting 70% he is making 30% in profit.

It does however depend whether you trust the fake part to be as solid as an original in an accident. It may not be structurally as well made and may crumple at the slightest touch.

who is going to compensate for the fall in value of the whole car on account of the accident? Try selling a car which has got into a accident in qatar – with a rear shunt it is difficult to sell the car and would have to be sold at less than market value.

for a 2006 car – the insurance co. should repair the vehicle with used/refurbished parts if they do not wish to put in brand new parts. Asking the vehicle owner to bear the cost is not acceptable considering it was not his fault.

I gave up on comprehensive insurance when my premiums did not reduce at all despite no accidents/no claim bonus – infact the market value of my car valued by the insurance co. to calculate the premium was double the actual market value!!! when i mentioned that i’d rather crash my car than sell it – cause then i’ll get double the amount – that insurance customer service agent agreed with me!!!!

Sometimes you wish to sock the guy that hits you (albeit illegal) - cause to get your car repaired/claim insurance is such a hassle in Qatar

Yes Danzelle is right. If the car is more than two years old and you want original parts, you have to pay the percentage they are asking but if you agree for the duplicate parts (not from the the same company like Mitsubishi, or Nissan), then they will not cost you anything. Just check again with the garrage. Hope they will agree with this.

@ medohaqatar If you're saying "Each year the car is depreciated by 10%" so the 10-year old has no value at all? You can't quantify the depreciation of every vehicle it may vary from one brand to another.

@IQ755, if you will put tijary/copy spare parts you will not pay any single amount.

Each year the car is depreciated by 10%.

What the insurance companies are saying is that as the car is (at 30%) 3 years old, then each part or component is only worth 70% of the new price. The Insurance companies are paying for the replacement of the parts at the value they are now worth.

As all parts are new, you are in their opinion going to be driving a car with a 70% value front end and 100% value rear end after the repair. Though when you next renew your insurance the car will be valued at 60% for the whole and if you have the same acccident then, it will cost you 40% of the parts.

They should only be charging you for 30% of the cost of parts and nothing for labour as I understand it as that would does not depreciate with age.

Could be wrong, but sorry I think if you want your car you need to pay. Personally I think the insurance should pay 100%.
