Hi Everybody,

You may like to note that now Driving Lessons & Tests are allowed on Automatic Cars both for Men and Women.

I passed by driving test today from Qatar Modern Driving School, who now have a new office behind Khalifa Stadium (Villagio).

Did not have to do the box parking. Instead was asked to do the straight parking.

without box parking, there is nothing much left in the test...

if you don't involve in any incident regarding car, it's okey but insurance will not pay if car you are driving is manual and you license says automatic only.

Just a precaution, unless yours is a special one!!!!

Dmighty.. really? Sigh. I drove an automatic during the test and when I got my license, it didn't say that I can only drive a/t vehicles.

I went to Al Khebra driving school btw.

how about road & traffic signs? Sounds too easy for me huh?

Anyway, congrats and hope you drive carefully.

I am surprised too about the box parking as it is a main criteria in the tests and many have to do this again and again. It may mean they forgot about you for this but I am sure this is not the norm.

they will only issue a license for such, meaning you are not allowed to drive manual vehicles.

But what suprise me is that "box" (pocket) parking was excluded while in Al Rayah Driving School, it is still part of the test for both automatic and manual cars.

Something fishy about this...

No, if you take lessons in Automatic, then the test will also be in an Automatic car and the licence will also say the same. Only disadvantage is you cannot drive a manual car.

If they get lesson on the Automatic cars then who will teach them manual one,s.They will face the problem later because the actual car is Manual only. Auto is usually for ladies.

Did they teach you that we are driving on the right hand side of the road in Qatar and that the white lines on the road are lane dividers and not a guidance line?? Did they also tell you what the mirrors in the car are for???

You really need a box parking otherwise you may crash into another car in the parking area as did two Indians in my office recently - one backed out the other backed up. They were the only two cars in the parking lot.
