All of them would go and crash unless they pay under the table.

There will be protests for...cars going round and round aimlessly - barely any overtaking....scantily clad girls....too much noise and worst of all WASTE OF FUEL - the opposition will want F1 cars to be converted CNG or diesel powered!!!! :-) – tht will raise Bernie’s well “manicured” eyebrows.

Know in and out of the Bahrain International Circuit so know to an extent what it takes to hold an F1 race :

-very high initial investment cost. This surely ain't a profit making initiative for the host nation. For AXD and Bahrain they need world exposure. India does not – we’ve got other issues to sort out first.

-very high maintenance cost for the track for the rest of the year. It has to be as per FIA standards. Tilke GmbH designed and built the BIC track. They also charge heavily for maintaining the track. The Delhi track is also being designed and built by Tilke

- difficult to get revenue for the rest of the year (other than the race weekend). Track days will be expensive and the facilities need to have other revenue streams. One thing for sure - you cannot have "any" road going car use the tracks – it would be a disaster for oil leak/accident on the track - Sumo's on the track OMG!!!!. Not all cars can be driven on the track.

Now for the merit :

- A world class racing track for Indian motorsports – the one in madras is plain sad to see.

- Huge number of F1 fans – so it is closer to actually get to watch a live race.

- Everyone in their life has to watch a F1 race. It is quite an experience just purely for the noise – it gets boring the second time around (even though I’m a fan – I’d rather watch it on tv where there is commentary. F1 requires commentary else it sucks)

- Finally a track where we can have the diplomats and aristocrats of Delhi race their Ferraris and other exotics rather than on the road.

Hope no repetition commonwealth saga – but it is a private enterprise so I’m hopeful that it should be slick. India needs to be privatized and the country needs to be run like a private business in order for change. I miss bbay.

They don't mess up like CWG!

It'l be awesome to watch them.. I remember going for the 'Speed run' a few years back at Bombay, near the Bandra Reclamation..

The Ferraris, The Lamborghinis, The Supra- all revved up! Man, Did our pulses go up then or what!!!

So can't wait for the real deal!!!

Why do you guys have to kill the fun by mentioning fix ups in F1 too? Already depressed about the cricket match fixing, was thinking switching interest to another sport and here also the same...Duh

but I agree with you - F1 is fixed in its own way.

Just pulling your leg over the Cronje thing :-P

In F1 teams themselves try to fix the race to suit their No. 1 and No. 2 drivers, they don't leave much scope for fixing :P

Though illegal betting will be big.

the issue is where the thing takes place. I'm just grateful there isn't a Nigerian Grand Prix. That would be the Oscar of corruption.
