India dethroned, worst humiliation in 40 yrs
Ind vs Eng: Spineless India lose No. 1 Test status and the series
RMINGHAM: A spineless India on Saturday tamely surrendered their number one status to a ruthless England as they slumped to an innings and 242-run defeat to allow the hosts clinch the completely lop-sided four-match series
India's nearly 20 months reign as the number one ranked Test team could not have ended in a more shambolic manner as they folded up for a paltry 244 in the second innings with an entire day to spare in what has turned out to be one of their worst overseas tours in recent history.
What had been billed as a high-profile series between two top teams has been reduced to a complete mismatch with the Indians being made to look like pushovers.
Congratulations to England... and Congratulations to India for being such a good sport :)
I am just happy to see England doing well at anything for a change.
by the way, Indian media need to chillax too!! ;) the way they are covering the defeat is pathetic..
Ok khannan, noted, heat out-peace in.....:)-
OP writes” spineless” India. What do you mean by it Mr bad new Joe??? In another post you write Indian cricket goes to Dogs (no wonder Mods won’t see it all :P). would you like to discuss cricket in details and prove us how it became spineless in just one game/series?? …ohh.. I shouldn’t take trolls seriously, Ok.. enjoy your hollow happiness, no wonder you miss real ones :P
Painther Bhiya!!!
Fact is India’s ascension to world cricket started in 2001 onwards……this is FIRST ever series loss in MS Dhoni’s captainship. England Never look as Mightier as this OP finds (writes in exaggerated tone) in first TWO tests, they were tumbling as good as their opponents, BUT this 3rd one was a perfect setting and they do deserve a Genuine congrats. But our Friends (perhaps Anti India subject was part of their elementary education!!!!) are making it beyond cricket, another Game. Or may be just envious of money these Guys make ..or may be wounds are still green of IPL misses (read losing precious dollars) ……Aha..case of neighbor’s envy owners pride!!. Can’t help:)..anyways have a look at these stats; things are not as bad as some perennial QL India haters think…..lol

tinker, your two cents are fake :), chillax
OP has gone out of mind when he says its worst humiliation defeat in 40 years (from 1970??), either he doesn’t know cricket at all or gone overboard in Anti India campaign……..to remind him India lost 3-0 to Australia in 1999-00, 4-0 in 91-92 and its not only India, there are almost all teams who have suffered such defeats in this game.
To people who say, India is tiger ONLY at Home; Guys that’s true with all teams, even England has still to win a series against India in India…(last one was in 1996, 1-0)……
Congrats England Cricket Team!! good to watch Cook, KP, Broad, Andy & co :)
Surprised!!! While I've to find real Brits to congratulate, I see loads of fireworks & rejoice in my neighbor's home, I wonder why?
Guys, hold on, Good to celebrate on your win (?) coze only "losers" celebrate on others defeat....
and Hard Luck India!
Comprhensive series win and at present she deserve to be at top of Test Ranking.
@ worldwild, then what would differ us from them?!...a truly sporting team won't take the extreme step of quitting a tournament unless it is REALLY necessary, whitewash or not...
they should have quit the tournament after the 2nd test blaming the security threats in the lights of uk riots..just as england did last time during mumbai attacks wen they were at the edge of a series 'white wash'...
Well done England
........
John Lalay...... I have no issues with anyone winning, my congratulations are with the winning team or country ...England in the instant case...but I am not accepting if someone insults my entire country just because he is happy for his team or country...no way.
HGLisn't this the time for the mother of cricket to celebrate for the first time in entire history of cric? ;)
Hey, we dont win much!!!!! We've only got the premier League, looters/rioting and social unrest and now cricket to boast about!!!! Gimmee a break - I want to bask!!!
England out played India in every department of the game this time around. It has proved that it is a much better team than India at the moment. My congratulations to England and the game of cricket. But Oh God!!! Isn't someone over excited over a game of cricket??? As if he personally have conquered the world. Relax mate! Not very long ago England was completely white washed in a 3 test series with 2 humiliating inning defeats and one 8 wicket defeat by India. That's cricket for you. Moreover it is yet to be seen how long England could hold that #1 position that eluded it for the whole history of the game.btw don't get me wrong, I want to help. If someone is really not feeling well, here is a dose of Panadol, I hope it will make you feel better. Can't help more than that. I am off.
chairboy, you didn't seriously expect to call Indians your *itches & not expect to get a reply in return now did you boy?!...don't light a fire & not expect the flames to lick your rearend eh?!so really, stick to the cricket...the better team won,no question about it...well played England...btw,it's spelt kool aid! :)...
Fair do's ........ like you say, well played England - we will meet again in the Winter on your turf and see what happens.... no offence.
Im trying to repel Gadarene's jingoism here - you know, the one where he uses Nasser Hussain as an example of reverse Imperialism .........
Your not helpin' Joe - hahahahahaha
BIRMINGHAM: Kingdoms fall. Empires crumble. Regimes collapse. It is the unwritten law of history. But who would have thought that India's reign would come to an end like this - so swiftly, so feebly, so abjectly? In just three Tests, spread over three dismal weeks and across three historic cities, they have not just tumbled from the pedestal; they have fallen from grace, from reverence even, only to land firmly on their swollen faces. As the last rites were performed on Saturday, the most worshipped team's triumphs and achievements faded into insignificance. As the innings-and-242-run win was completed, the great run-machine's reputation and legacy lay in tatters.
Yeah, REALLY compelling case you make there gadarene for Indian supremacy which wasnt what I was disadvocating anyway - I just seem to have struck a major vein of nation insecurity amongst a couple of BMs !!! lol Keep drinking that ole cool aid bud!!!!
Good job by England team WELDONE
@ chairboy,Chennai born Nasser Hussain was captain of the England test team not very long ago, your national dish is chicken tikka masala,Indian L.N. Mittal owns the most expensive house in the UK(& probably has significantly more money than your queen if he declared his actual assets!)...now really, who is whose *itch?!...wake up & smell the tea,we're here,we're taking over & there isn't really much you can do about it!...Now,getting back to the cricket,England were the better team & the better team won,no team stays @ # 1 permanently, that is the beauty of any sport, competition for # 1,that's what keeps it interesting...
When I want your opinion on anything I say HGL, I will tell you what it is ok.
Some *#$5s ...............showin
@#$$5^&
Good going... from a game in which one lost and another won, to talking of meaningful discussion on the game (finger pointed at Indians), to you (finger again pointing at Indians) all are our *itches..... guess someone didnt even realise what an ar*e he made of himself in the process of attempting to ridicule entire Indians based on a simple game...guess I am hearing someone who was a plumber back in his country got carried away by the fake tag of project engineer given here.... no worries spend some glorious years after being working as plumber in the home of Indians back home...I feel for you.
Congrats to England, they played the real test match, welcome back to no.1 position,,, England could have won a world cup long ago,,,well done boys!its time for india to concentrate on international level,
chairboy........dont explain about englands "GREATENESS".now everyday we knows that very well.ALSO YOU USED ONE WORD HERE "*itches". you are the really "*itches" infront of he world today.mind it
Chairboy - If the womens team takes part in the 4th test there might be a bigger problem with the England players trying to finish the game early and in fewer days so they can take the women out to show them around the burnt places in LondonWell as was clearly seen the Indian players were in London not to play cricket but to do their own things as the end result shows.
Different game of course - 1 day v Test match - but as I recall, India couldnt beat England in the World Cup either!! Face it, you'll always be our *itches!!! lmao
You know guys?TEAM INDIA is the no:1 team in the world.where was the england team during the world cup matches?england was zero infront of other teams.game is like this, will teurn any time.indian players will earn more money than england players in modeling also.dont jelous!
"Humiliation" - You're letting them off lightly!!!!! Congrats to England - GENUINELY the best team in the world and not a team of plastic wannabe models......................
It'll be a long time before any Indian I know enter into a meaningful discussion on the game with me after the disgrace of Edgbaston - if I where the ICB, I wouldnt bother with the 4th test and I would ask the Indian women's team to take the field at The Oval - a much closer game i would suggest would ensue.
