I imported my 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 Super Snake from the US to qatar without any trouble to be honest just had to send in a letter to the ministry of transport, environment and customs, i had to pay 2% the buying cost of the car which was nothing. yes the shipping cost was a bit much but not expensive.
I imported my 68 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible about two years ago and after going through the blow, I know the steps and contacts and its not difficult or expensive at all. Any way give me holla and I can explain in detail.
i did manage to get permission last year to bring my ten year old car in from bahrain..did not actually bring it in but they did allow me..was a long winded process..they first refused, but i told them i loved my car and it meant a lot to me..that worked to melt their hearts haha..just an ordinary expat with no connections but since the car had sentimental value, i did it..just to give you an idea, you will be dealing with customs, ministry of business & trade, ministry of environment, the traffic department and whoever else they think you need to meet..also you will be bouncing around these ministries a couple of times until everything is sorted..the people are helpful enough though and if you love your car enough, it will be worth it..best of luck:-)

Think there's a rule that you can't import cars that are more than 5 years old. Would be interesting to know if there are exemptions for classic cars.
