I'm finally here!

Folks.. took me ages to get here.. and now... with my excitement, I've run my alcoholic ass into Ramadan. Of course, I'm ultra conscious of toeing the line and showing the requisite levels of compliance and respect. That said, does anybody know of any places where one can have a drink within the appropriate and accepted Ramadan times... or have I been misled? Is there a blanket 'no supply under any cicumstances' approach to alcohol?

Any 'non alcohol supplying' entertainment joints during this Holy month?

I hope my ignorance has not caused offence to any Muslims. No disrespect intended.

Thanks in advance!

And can I just say, the Shish at Grand Joud while pleasant, is no friggin substitute for a cold pint!

Who needs AA meetings - come here for a stag weekend during this season!! :-)

i just realised i have made so made spelling errors on my last blog. Think I had one wine with a fine bouquet, smelling of raspberries ripening in the sunshine with just a hind of juniper and ginger wafting delicately after a summer rainstorm towards the nostrils, too many.

You know i have had to cut down on buying groceries ...cos I have no room in my kitchen cupboards now that i have all this booze...

You should have seen the queues at the one and only lisenced store in Q the last few days before Ramadam. It made tescos on Xmas eve look empty. my husband queued for nearly 2 hours. So what that means is every expat colleague in your company is sitting smugly on their little nest of alcohol safe in the knowledge that they wont go dry before ramadam ends (us included ha ha). See if you can buy a bottle off someone. I'd offer you one only I'm worried we might run dry before the end of ....

I thought the hotels like the Intercontenental and Ramada,or Garveys and the Rugby club still sold alcohol at certain descreet times - might be worth askin. I ll ask my husband' he is the fountain of all knowledge in our house hold now that i am no longer working myself and have become a lady wot lunches...and drinks...

My husband is in the same position. He arrived a week ago, knows no one and it seems everyone has to wait until the end of Ramadam for bars to reopen. He couldn't even get into a beach club/pool on Friday.

If you get any feedback let me know as I think he feels really isolated.
