Illegal ?

novita77
By novita77

When we first arrived over 6 yrs ago we being told that :

1. Washing car outside your house with the hose pipes is illegal
2. Burning the garden rubbish in your garden is illegal

Are they true?

Maybe the fellow Qatari QL'ers such as DG, Bajesus, Genesis or Qatari can help us?

We never do it ... but i guess it would help newbie in Doha the same with the Alcohol transporting case.

No problem, For your repentance you have to stamp one 1000 word essay on "Doping Scandals".

But I still forgive you.

No! I don't eat chocolate but my maid love chocolate so when I buy chocolate for my family she has some too! They are all chocolate lovers but not me! And yes I spray my car to take the mud off it and she has to do the soap, I do the rinsing and she does the drying. So we do enjoy doing it together and our compound has a good drainage and it doesn't flood our road. So! no problemo! Sometimes when were in the mood we spray our next door neighbor's car too! just to take the mud out of their car.

It's great to be loved!

Why I made the comment about polish - is that the car gets a better protection and it will shine afterwards, not only that but one dealer who sold me the polish showed me that scratches to the paint are almost invisible again after polishing it.

By anonymous• 27 Jan 2008 11:47
anonymous

canarybird....quite true. lol.

But then those are done by others and cant be avoided. While this can be & also its a good exercise!

In fact one has to wax his car, especially during the rains. So a little water will run down the dirt and also the water doesnt seep through the carpaint and touch the metal.

By anonymous• 27 Jan 2008 11:28
anonymous

My care receives so many scratches and dents alone in the office parking place the car wash will not damage it more than the delinquents who are hit and run.

Then there is the remedy you can polish your car if you want it to shine lol.

Bucket V/s Hose

1 Bucket = 15 Ltrs. approx

With a Hose you will need only 5 Ltrs of water. Plus your car becomes cleaner than with Bucket+mug.

The trick is to put a shower-gun like thing at the end of the hose so as to control the water.

....Both ways use less water than a Carwash.

Other than Automatic Carwash I dont trust anyone (other than myself)to wash my car, as washing a car has to be done carefully.

It very easy to rub the fine sand/dust and scrape the thin film over the carpaint. Such scratches are not visible but take away the gloss of the car paint.

This is the reason I refuse manual carwash by people around public offices (eg.immigration ).

As for water & electricity scarcity .....it could be a reality when the upcomming towers around CityCentre are commissioned.

Unfortunately, the question did not mean anything in particular, however, if it is prohibited Qataris and foreigners alike are responsible for their actions.

I would not call the police on my neighbours and have no interest to become conspicuous to them. They can hose down their cars all they want, but their actions make it difficult for me parking my car and when they drive past too fast they spray mud on my car always.

amnesia

Finally a law will be implemente because of the water shortage, Qataris and foreigners will not be allowed to wash their cars and their yards with any amount of water they want.

When Qataris have to pay for the water and electricity they use they will automatically less - the law of human nature.

Qatar is not yet fully developed but using electricity to light up villas all night long and using enless amount of water that Qatar doesn't have - hardly any or no ground water already, and not not paying for it will in the end have consequences for the country.

Water resources are extremely short here and are being used in abundace which is criminal, water is more valuable than oil and gas together but all will learn to be responsible for the commodity.

Police has nothing to do with car washing. Unless you want to start a fight with your neighbors and then call the police.

To file a complain, you have to call your municipality for that purpose

this is a contradiction?

- you love to keep your car clean

- so your maid washes it

if you loved to keep your car clean then you would be doing the cleaning -

if you love eating chocolate does your maid eat it for you then?

By amnesia• 27 Jan 2008 09:27
amnesia

well you would need to first discuss the matter with your neighbours and they'd technically have to build some sort of drainage system or stop if the authorities intervened.

I find it a difficult subject because I don't understand how you could ask someone to stop washing their car in front of their house.

I don't have great knowledge in this area.

As you yourself commented last week there are a nuber of car wash shops who do the work for you.

Now if hosing down the car and making puddles on the street directly behind my parking space, and hinders me getting into my car properly which is done daily by my neighbours - all I have to do is complain to the police and the issue would be resolved - is that the situation??

Drainage in Qatar is nearly non existant.

My maid is not that skinny! hmp! (Mystica stumping!) I give her vitamins to keep her strong too! She is that spoiled with me!

My kids are only 11 and 8 years old will not even accept 20 Q.R. to clean my car for me! they want 50 Q.R. see how smart ass they are? I don't want them to spoil their hands for that kind of job anyway!

It's great to be loved!

@red, you'd use 1 bucket, when the water gets dirty, you refill the bucket :P simple as that.

@kelly, the translation for that is

"Washing cars or machinery or any transport vehiciles in areas that are prohibited result in a 100 QR Fine".

It would make sense that if you ended up messing up an area by creating mud or hindering other people, then that would be considered an area that could be considered prohibited.

According to the laws here. The fine is 100 QRs/car.

Here is the wording in Arabic:

غسيل السيارات أو الآليات أو وسائل النقل الأخرى في غير الأماكن المسموح بها

100 ريال

عن كل سيارة

And here is the link:

http://mmaa.mmaa.gov.qa/site/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=104

And actually it makes no difference whether hose or bucket is being used

She cleans my car every morning because my kids are both grown up and she doesn't have a lot of work to do in my house, my kids are pretty organized, I let my maid to take rest in the afternoon for a couple of hours and goes to bed at 9 PM. So what make you think she will run away? Hang on! I just lend her to my friend! I haven't trained my new maid for that job! And it rains this evening, that means my car will be dirty when I get up! Is Doha having a water Crisis lately?

I don't get it, my neighbors are Qatari and every day I see their servants washing four or five vehicles at the same time with hoses.
