To be very frank,i have always opted private cars to drop and pick me up from my office when i used to work before..

thats might be the reason for scrapping all Orange Taxis and introduced Karwa Taxi and Buses, before it was only Orange Taxis.

People also must take up Bus service or pooling system.

Dubai has a very good public transport system with well made bus stops unlike here.....It is really a big problem here not to have our own transport. Karwa taxis are here but not adequate for all who needs them and have not yet dared to checked the public buses here.

6 years without a CAR in UAE, didn't impact me then

what I experienced in Doha, Qatar......

I stayed ONLY for 2 Weeks without my CAR (at Cargo) and felt like living in a HELL!

No need to answer the question to me, I didn't ask it. I am not curious as to why this was hijacked, after 4 years on QL I know how things work, I just think it's a shame.

deepb, 25 years in Qatar?? Were you born here?

By deepb• 6 Jun 2010 15:35

Jasmine, his question is not the answer to the solution. In my 25 years in Qatar, I too did not have a car for majority of the period, and had to suffer for long periods without getting a taxi in the heat. That does not mean an illegal taxi service can be made legal. That does not even make any sense! The request should be addressed to the karwa or government to increase their taxi numbers and there are previous threads on the same.

I hope that satisfies your curiosity as to why this thread was deemed necessary to be Hi-jacked. :)

This is why I never to bother to ask simple questions on QL anymore, not everything is a joke guys. His question is not unreasonable and so what if he has asked a lot of questions, maybe he has lots to ask. If you don't know the answer or are not interested why not just ignore it.

Obviously you have never called Karwa for a taxi only to be told the next available is in 10 days at 3am when you are standing in the 40 degree heat. Lucky you.
