I Just saved QR 5,198 by flying with Cebu Pacific Air

Yes that’s right, a massive QR 5,198 (66,551 peso) saving by switching airline from my normal Qatar Airways to Cebu Pacific.

So here are the figures for my Christmas Vacation to Legazpi. The flights are on identical days, the only difference is that Qatar Airways would have given me 40kg of baggage, where as I have only paid for 20Kg on Cebu Pacific. I have also paid for in flight meals on the Cebu Pacific booking, something that would have been free on Qatar Airways.

For 2 Adults flying return trip at Christmas Doha, Qatar – Legazpi, Philippines

Qatar Airways: QR 11,460 DOH-MNL then an additional QR 788 for MNL- LGP (Cebu Pacific as Qatar Airways don’t fly this route) so total QR 12,248

Cebu Pacific: QR 7,050 all in DOH-LGP changing in Manila

And there is another advantage with flying Cebu Pacific; their DOH-MNL uses Terminal 3 in Manila, and so does MNL-LGP. Where as Qatar Airways use Terminal 1 in Manila, and thus a terminal transfer is required together with your unloaded luggage to T3 to catch your domestic flight (either Cebu Pacific or Philippine Airways).

So having been a loyal Qatar Airways customer for the last 6.5 years, I am now flying with a different carrier because the saving is just too great to miss out on.

And I’m sure once we are in the air there will be little difference between the two carriers when it comes to economy class. It’s just a seat in the air at the end of the day. Isn’t it?

Of course I will be reporting back to let you know how I found the flights when I get back from my Christmas Vacation.

I fly domestic flights with Cebu within the Philippines quite a lot, and I have no complaints at all. I have never flown with Philippine Airways because I have never felt the need to change. Now following a 9 hour flight I may change my opinion. But I will make my own mind up after the flight and I will report back with my first hand experience having done so ;)

Cebu Pacific...just loving! they let you bring your own food inside too. I saw people bringing their McLoving meals on-board before. You can bring all sorts of food apparently, even the pungent ones for hours of enjoyment for other passengers. Sometimes, you can smeel the MSG and soysauce too :-)

With over 200 flights on Cebu Pacific I can promise you their official nickname is "Sky Jeepney". The seats are so close together, nothing is free, blankets are 500P. I am surprised they do not charge you for access to oxygen mask in the event of an emergency.

First of all thank you TB for the review

The second thing is, I never believed that I will ever use a budget or cheap flights, till I HAD TO, for example Flydubai and Gulf Air (It was really good!)

They both have more space between the rows (I loved that), Flydubai don't offer you a meal, but Gulf Air does, add on the big difference in tickets' prices!

I have been flying with Qatar Airways, Emirates, Turkish Airlines and Royal Jordanian before, but now I won't really matter (Expect for the really long flights)

So I will be looking forward to hear from you about your experiance TB

Lol Brit. They just revoked my Silver Membership because I didn't have enough flights this year. And now I'm back to Burgundy there is no chance of an upgrade, so may as well just go for the best price. I don't even care about delays, as long as I am there by Christmas ;)

Dear QA Management.

Please cancel Timebandit's accumulated air miles and revoke his gold card.

zackm I hear what you are saying. But it's not a little more, it's a lot more. Anyway, let's see how I get on. I will post on here after flying what I thought of the seats, the cabin crew, the in flight meal and of course any delays.

You forgot to mention about the long delays before take off and possible flight cancellations with Cebu Pacific, they are well known for that. Also there is a huge difference between Qatar Airways and budget carrier; Cebu Pacific, the flights are not much delayed or none for some routes. Also you get better seats and service than Cebu Pacific. You get what you paid for. I rather pay a bit more and fly Qatar Airways than Cebu Pacific.

Amazing savings.. Please keep us updated.. I heard that Cebu Pacific has beautiful crew and serve Balut in economy.. Is that true ?
