I just marked my 8th Accident in a month!
By MarcoNandoz-01 •
Looks like two dead bodies.... accident in Industrial area... May God rest their souls.
BTW This is the 8th fatal accident i'm witnessing in this city in just under one fuckin month!
something gotta be done MAN!
We feel sorry for you mate, its all about attitude and behaviorism.Aggressive driving came in as the second main perceived cause of motor vehicle collisions, following driver inattention. Stress continues to be cited as the main reason people drive aggressively.Play you part and be a safer driver to all.
I wish to God to BAN egy** or pal**tian ruled companies here coz based on my management. They r putting pressure on us with respect to exit permit and trying to make employees like slaves.
Today, i missed accident while crossing the road.....i saw cars waiting in the right side of me......then i started crossing the road immediately and saw the traffic signal for them in the left hand side and was amazed to see it GREEN.....meaning those cars were waiting for me untill i cross the road....all mercy of God....horrible :'(
When we read such headlines in the paper, we feel sorry for those who lost a loved one and criticize our system. Little do we realize that to change any system, all of us have to make a contribution. The responsibility is collective and we all have to do our bit to make roads safer to drive and for pedestrians. Here are some of the ways I feel can bring positive changes and lessen the number of accidents on Qatari roads -lets speak with one voice for Road Safety for all and save lives.
bangash
very sorry for ur loss
may he RIP.
May the departed soul rest in peace ...........
It's painful to see parents who drive with their children and allow them to not use seat belts. One accident, and they will go straight through the windshield. In Europe and the US they have very strict laws about car seats and boosters for children.
Strict traffic patrolling after 8 in the evenings/weekends to fine and consfiscate license for minimum one year those found guilty; for repeat offense, cancel the license and black listed for future Driving
I want request for all humanity who see the above picture the car accident occure in samra road in qattar the man who have dead in this accident was my cousin so please pray for his soul . he was a very nice and had a great heart for people . so please pray his soul and God give him comfortable life in Heaven Ameen .

Tragic...Qadar Allah Masha fa'l. Echo Victory:what is being done about it? Has the perpetrator been caught?
inna lillah wa inna ilaihi rajioon...
what is the punishment for drunk driving in Qatar?
inna lillah wa inna ilaihi rajioon
lost a distant relative a few days back due to an accident here. His parked car was hit from behind by a drunk driver.
Inna lillah wa inna ilaihi rajioon.
true said... drive smart not just fast... but please dont drive like you riding a tortoise either... coz thats what gets people killed... people changing lanes or crossing roundabouts in 30-40 km/hr speed... while mining their nose...

blah, pledge is a pledge thats it.... its not gonna change anything...
vow, promise, undertaking to protect
Pledge..it's used to polish furniture :P
To Drive Safely and ensure no accidents. To follow all road safety measures and instructions and drive responsibly. Ensure NOT to harm another human due his irresponsible driving behaviour
pledge? whats that supposed to do?
We have to make them recite 'PLEDGE' twice a day to implement Zero accident tolerance levels.
we should take initiative on road safety programes, think we can Pledge road safety training to road users individuals, organisations and coporates should provide their drivers for refresher counseling/lecturing courses to develop their driving skills and their action plans by support DECADE FOR ACTION towards Zero accident on strategic plan 2011-2020
Guilt you are really STUPID by your own definition; I follow the similar trend since years ;D
I think we can Pledge road safety training to road users in future individuals and coporates should take their drivers for refresher course to develop their driving skills and their action plans by support DECADE FOR ACTION towards Zero accident on strategic plan 2011-2020
You are the One who have found a solution. Great !
Most others just talk & talk.
Now a days I have decided to go to the Office and back home only. Shopping will be done during the day time when the traffic is comparatively low on Saturdays. Driving in the evenings are nightmares.
Don't you think witnessing 8th accident in a month is a very small number in this part of the world. There are accident happening every day
First, get the Qataris to drive like gentlemen, then you'll notice a huge drop in the percentage of road accident related fatalities....
In yesterday's Gulf Times, you will see the picture of a toppled police car that was hammered by a reckless Qatari driver from behind... Assessing the damage on the police car, one can imagine at what speed he was driving...
Ohhh Good Lord..
I hope I will never ger near with these Phyco kids..
with increasing population, number of cars on the roads and more road construction work; which subsequently increasing the accident risk. Again with the summer heat, we become more impatient.
I had 3 accidents in a span of 1 month in 2006 and none was my fault. A Qatari young boy was driving a brand new car laughing after he smashed 4 cars in a row at the traffic signal, confirming that this was his second accident in a week with same car.
We all should resolve today and SHOULD drive at the speed of 80 and less to be safe rather feels sorry.
drsam, it's a valid proposal but still, how can it work in a place where the 'important ones' don't give a fudge the lives of others?
Another LC in site! R.I.P.
Watch your number during Ramadan man.
ARROGANCE. well said TB

Things like this don't surprised me anymore over here. Infact I am surprised that it is only 8 this month you have seen. There are potential accidents on every road I drive on because of the nutters on the roads. It really is frightening.
I have seen accident which took place simply because The Driver was watching another accident.
".... was hit by a car from the rear near the Industrial Area petrol station. Both the vehicles overturned by the impact of the collision and the motorists in them were killed on the spot."
They must have been driving too fast. Either one of them, so, they deserve death.
The local who slammed into the police car, was an idiot, probably text-messaging.
This morning a land cruiser passed 5-6 trucks on the emergency lane; the middle and left lane were empty; so why drive on the emergency lane ? What if there was a car on the emergency with a technical problem ?
Then I saw wreck; the left-over of another accident that must have happened overnight.
I have seen only one traffic police car during my commute.
Other than that, another 'normal' drive to work.
yeah it is..
No need to ask Flor..
and may I know who has a LOT of it?
Wel said.. Arrogance and Egos are the main causes...
Having been hit by a L/C two weeks ago while stationry, I have realized it doesn't mater how well you drive, here you are going to get shunted anyway. I consider myself a good driver. I have nearly 30 years experience and undertook training with the UK traffic police for advanced driving skills. Yet in my 3 years here I have had to file 4 accident reports and that is even with my extra training looking out for potential dangers.
While trying to figure out what is the difference between driving here and back home in the UK is, I am starting to believe that apart from licenses being issued for a very low standard of driving here, the main danger can be attributed to one thing 'AROGANCE'.
Oh and did anyone else read that after this horrendous accident, the emergency services got smashed into while they were attending it.

Two expatriate men were killed and a Qatari injured in two road accidents at the same spot yesterday morning. The first accident took place when a car heading from Salwa Road to the Industrial Area was hit by a car from the rear near the Industrial Area petrol station. Both the vehicles overturned by the impact of the collision and the motorists in them were killed on the spot. As the Traffic Police patrol was investigating the accident, a car driven by a local crashed into the police vehicle. The motorist, who was injured, was taken to the Hamad Hospital. Both the vehicles were damaged.
Be very cautious while driving and always anticipate the unexpected scenario; in other words, drive safely and defensively :)
Dear Marcos thanks for bringing up such n important issue; I would like to add that though we can't change the behavior of all these reckless drivers what we can do is to practice defensive driving (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defensive_driving) and pray to god before starting our journey,,,
by the way karwa has a course in defensive driving techniques...-:)
Yes..Audubillah. I know what kinda people you mean. And inevitably even when such folks meet with accidents that they brought upon themselves, the fault is always assumed to be of the motorists.
I always say it's a recipe for disaster: a country overrun by both reckless, daredevil drivers and careless pedestrians!
around 12midnight along corniche area, accident happened with in land cruiser and mitsu lancer... wishing this year would be lessen on this kind of tragedy coz i wanna buy my own car on my 1st year here in qatar....
This could be some pedestrians trying to cross the road in traffic. I almost had an accident trying to save a stupid family who were literally standing on the fastest lane just after the signal crossing.
The signal was green and I crossed it well under 80km/h and saw this family standing in the first lane..had to dangerously steer right to save them. I am glad that Allah saved them and myself from any accident but Allah forbid if there was an accident then I am sure someone on QL would have created a thread "lunatic mercedes driver killed an innocent family" with gruesome pictures.
Somebody seriously need to educate slow drivers and pedestrians about traffic rules and the dangers of blocking fast lane.
RIP!
Better to Safe then Sorry...
We all have destiny. by edge point will always same.
Better to give way and live..far more civil and healthy. Pointless wearing our egos on our sleeves in this case!
As to those who speed, yet try to master all the radar spots, they kinda remind me of what we tell lil kids. "Even if mom and dad can't see ya God still can" just substitute radars and cops for mom and dad! Sooner or later they may have to pay a high price for their folly and foolish pride, yet sadly so will some innocents, God have mercy on us all!
Yeah Molten,
I was once force to hit 165kph cos there's no space at my right lane to give way and this LC speeding up..
We are approaching a camera but this LC at my back is not slowing down..
I got no choice, rather than to be smash..
Speedy ticket for me..
that ,s the reason i cant pass my road test so scared just before my driving test i saw serious accident .and my confidence gets lost.but i need license .what to do .

f.. is not a civil word on this forum , what do you want to prove by saying f..?
That is the open secret 'give way', it costs much much less than life. A decent & respectful way of driving.
But it is the pride which keeps 'some' people from following this basic rule.............. 'in time'.
Bit over the top. Yes, the traffic s bad . Yes, there are idiots on the road, but try going to Saudi :0(
There are so many wreckless drivers in Doha who has to be severely punished by the traffic department .
I got a Phobia with LC many times..
So every time I drive, if I see LC or any other big cars at my mirror i always give way..
Traffic in Doha is bad in every sense. You never know how long it will take before you shook hands with the soul reaper… We almost got mashed up by an over speeding lorry coming back from Dukhan beach last night!
It is like that same old case of a slow moving small car coming suddenly in front of paced up traffic & it may have happened to be an unlucky LC in line the of fire.
Is there any report from authorities about the injured ?
It is any body's guess, until an expert establishes & declares the root cause.
Is it a time to say 'lols' ???
do you think that speed will not kill?
Its good no one said..
"This is Qatar leave this country if you don't like seeing such accidents"
yet...
Vat to do!! SMH!!
i used to live 3 r/a away from my work. i did all i could so i can be closer to work. now i'm only 1 r/a away.
even tho, in 4 years, i had 3 minor accidents.
Fathima/drsam, With all the mobile units placed on highways recently, expats like you and me would never dare to overspeed. Its only the people who have enough money with them to pay the fines or have a clout with the authorities to get away rubbing their noses, would overspeed.
I take the Salwa road to my office everyday and observe the trend these days. Its mostly the landcruisers and the mercs that race past me. You know whome am I talking about..
How very sad. But like you said, this is a common occurrence in this part of the world. Feel free to kill yourselves, but don't take poor innocent people with you.
It's really frightening...
See, I think driving fast, generally, is not the problem. If you are on a proper highway, there is no traffic, and drivers are generally knowledgeable .
But, this is Qatar, most people have no idea how to drive, no idea about or interest in traffic rules, traffic is thick and heavy...so driving fast is lethal....for the driver and those around him.
Yep, today I saw two accidents. And yes, I continue to see the locals flying in their landcruisers zigzagging through traffic, driving on the emergency lane, as they believe it is some playstation game.
knight return
i second on fatimah; just 4 years back in my home country, 240 km/h was a weekly routine for me :(
oh! and all my friends find me soooo serious, and calm; not until i take them for a ride.
not anymore tho.
Don't be too sure...you might just be surprised at just who may turn out to be a reckless driver. I know I was! I mean you expect some people would know better but sadly you end up feeling so flabbergasted ...like et tu Brutus!
I see accident on my way to work every few days or a week interval at the last robots before you enter barwa village. Its scary....and mostly very sad. People's lives are lost over speed. Wonder what will make people to be more cautious...
Lols Knight Returns !
R.I.P the deceased ones !
MN,the Ministry is trying all wat they can do to reduce these accidents and still trying...jus keep ur legs crossed and wait for some Mircale to happen ? :(
MN, People who overspeed don't generally log in here..:(
OMG I hope people see this and take driving seriously ... you not only put your self in danger but whoever rides with you and other ,.... please take driving serious ...If you wanna die ,fine go jump off a high place or pop some sleeping pills, but don't decide to take me down with u! fuk that!
